If you're unable to send mails, it can be related to a problem with the configuration of Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP). Verify from your ISP your incoming and outgoing mail server.

Go to Tools> Account Settings> Email tab.
Select your Email account and then click on Change.
Double check if incoming and outgoing mail sever are entered correctly.
Click More Settings button.
Go to Advanced tab and enter 110 for Incoming Mail Server port, and then enter 25 for Outgoing Mail Server.

** you could also verify from your ISP if they uses a different port for Outgoing Mal Server.

Sending reported error (0x800CCC80) : 'None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your server.'

Is this when trying to send e-mail via outlook? Check the account settings in outlook to be sure the authentication mechanism is supported by your email provider

I get sending error 0x800ccc80 when trying to send messages...But all messages are send once or twice a day at random times...otherwise they sit in the outbox

Outlook 2007 is stricter than 2003 about SMTP authentication. It could be the case that 2003 tried automatically to connect without authentication when authentication failed, while 2007 throws an error.

Please verify the settings for authentication in your account, and uncheck the box “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication", on the "Outgoing Server" tab.

Error (0x800ccc80) what does this mean?

Literally it means that Outlook tried authenticating with some authentication methods (password, encrypted password, and so on) but the server did not support any of them.

More likely, either the server did not send the list of supported methods, or something in between ate them. Check your antivirus settings, and verify that no encryption or advanced authentication is needed in the account settings.

If it still doesn't work, turn on debug recording in the Outlook advanced features and try again:

When posting the debug log, keep in mind that it could contain sensitive information such as your email password in obfuscated format, and anyone reading the log could be able to decode it.

Outlook 2007

if the message had a file or picture in it sometimes you will have to zip it to compress it and secure it as it may be caused by the way the programme sends packets of information.
