I also have a cavs machine.......when it does this I open the cassette and reinsert, it usually loads....another idea, open the machine, access the laser, you may have to remove a cover over the laser, and clean it.....also, some models have a software glitch.....so when it does this....shut the power off w the remote.....wait a few seconds, power it back up....and let it load the disc......question, does it do this w all discs?

I have a LG GE20 DVD Rewriter Is a DVD+RW disc a format that is editable and suitable for this unit?

The LG G20 DVD Rewriter is an advanced external burner that supports 'editable' Rewritable DVD+RW disk.
As a generic comment, not all writable/rewritable media are made equal and problem with branded & unbranded disks are not uncommon, so stick to brands that work for you for your specific unit!

Unable to read a disk that has not been finalized unless new

It sounds like the most like culprits are the laser assembly or it could be the Mpeg printed circuit board, often found attached to the laser assy by flat ribbon cabbles. the part number should be on the printed circuit board or laser assembly, otherwise obtainable from their closest aurthorised dealer. Good Luck.

    No Disc

This maybe due to a disk misread, clean youe lens and retry. If this does not help you may have a problem where the system is unaware of the disks it shouldbe able to paly this is a hard memory issue. Try cleaning the lens first.
