We are trying to start our craftsman 6.5 hp 4 in 1 leaf vacuum. It doesn't appear to be 'catching.' is this the spark plug? Where does the run/choke need to be set when attempting to start? Does the speed ( the turtle & the rabbit) need to be specifically set when attempting to start?
Check to see that bag is attached correctly as it has a kill switch.
when my parents bought the house that we are living in 18 years ago a craftsman leaf vacuum was left behind and just last week i tride to get it started but no luck so i took it to get it fix and mine did not have the kill switch so when i went to pick it up the guy was just testing it and he told me that it was not getting a spark so he put a new distributor and a carburetor so when looking at the carburetor throttle lever move all the way to the left to stop and move 1 seting to the right to start and all the way to the right for choke. on my vacuum like it did not have the kill switch the wire that comes out by the sparck plug wire and is grounded. when that wire is grounded the engine on my vacuum wont start and when it's not grounded it starts so for me to kill or stop the engine what i did was i got a kill switch and added it so i can stop the engine. so disconnect the wire from switch and try to start it and if it starts to stop the engine just ground the wire and it will stop

Speed on rabbit and if you are facing front of vac choke will be althe way to the right.

What do you mean by not catching??? When you pull the rope does it not turn the motor over???? If not you need to take apart the side cover and see whats not grabbing??????????????
