1). Immediately pick out the inner memory card of your digital camera in case that any newly taken picture would rewrite your original photos.
2). Insert this memory card to your computer via a card Reader and prepare to retrieve all your deleted pictures.
3). Apply a deleted photo recovery freeware to retrieve all your deleted photos back successfully:
http://blog4mark.blogspot.com/2012/12/photo-recovery-after-delete.html
I believe this data recovery freeware can work perfectly on your camera memory card just in the same way as it completely retrieves all the deleted data of my friend off from his phone memory card. Just give it a shot!
4). Save and back up all the restored photos on a different memory card or drive in case of data recovery failure.
Note: Never forget to back up everything important at least on two memory cards or locations in the future.
Good luck!

If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.

SOURCE: When i turn my digital

Sounds like you will need to format the memory card. This will permanently erase all the data from the card and then you will be able to use it again. To format the card: Press the Ok button - right arrow to Mode Menu - down arrow to Card tab - right arrow to card setup - right arrow to format option. You will see format yes or no. Choose Yes and press ok. This will clear the card full message and the card can be used again.

SOURCE: Card error

As long as the xD card was not formatted it is possible to recover the images that were accidently erased or unable to be downloaded to computer. You can go to the following website link and download an image recovery software program that is free of charge.

You want to download a program called Zero Assumption Recovery. It is a very simple program to use and people have had much success in recovering images.

How to recover my pictures that was erased

If the pictures were on a memory card and nothing new has been written to the card (no new pictures), you may be able to recover them. Put the card into a card reader attached or built-in to your computer. Run a file recovery program.

To find a file recovery program, do a Google search for "file recovery" and your computer's operating system.

Why does my Canon G12 Communication has an error message when uploading to my mac

Probably your memory card is full, you should erase some pictures from the camera and it will work. It happened to my Canon G9 . I erased some old pictures from my memory card and the message Communication Error disappeared.

How do I format a memory card without erasing pictures already on it?

No, format will erase all data. Try doing chkdsk <drive letter> /f in the command prompt.

After taking dozens of pics all day my camera all of a sudden won't take a pic, zoom, etc and after a short time it says card reader error.

The memory card may be full. Transfer the pictures from the camera as normal (or directed), and once sure they are on your computer or printed out, delete all the pictures (erase) from the memory card.

Try to take pictures again - if the error is still present (or you are unable to transfer the pictures to the computer) , there may be an issue with the card. You may not be able to use the card anymore - but before discarding, see if it works in another device or "stand alone memory card reader". If it works in either of those devices, there may be a problem with your camera. Try using another memory card to see if you get the same message when trying to take pictures with the new card installed. if you do, it looks more like a camera problem than a memory card problem. Hopefully, it's the memory - and not the camera.

No data is visible on the memory card al of a sudden... looks lik der's an error. hw do i get bak the data? I hav a 1 gb card. Th MEMORY USED is being shown as 928 mb which is correct. But, i'm not able to...

The card has become corrupted. But you should easily still be able to recover your pictures. First thing, take the card out of the camera and take no more pictures with this card (you don't want to overwrite your older pictures).
You'll need to use recovery software and a USB card reader reader to recover your pictures. There's plenty of freeware recovery program. Here's some examples. If you don't have a USB card reader, get one. They're only a couple dollars these days on Amazon (with shipping included). They're also great for downloading your photos, much faster than from the cable of the camera.
Finally, AFTER you recover your pictures, format the card IN THE CAMERA to rejuvenate it back to life. This will also totally erase the card, so again do this only after you've recovered the photos.

Xd memory card

A card access error may indicate that an xD-Picture Card memory card is in a write-protected condition. xD-Picture Card memory cards have a special protection feature to ensure that your pictures are kept safe. NOTE: During this condition, you can still use the printer for printing and saving photos from the xD-Picture Card to a secure location, such as the computer hard drive. To resolve this error, try the following:
  • Reinsert the xD-Picture Card memory card into your camera and turn on the camera. In most cases, the camera automatically makes the necessary changes.
  • Reformat the xD-Picture Card memory card. See the documentation that came with your camera for instructions on reformatting the memory card. Note that this process erases the pictures currently saved to your memory card. To save these pictures, transfer them to the computer before reformatting the memory card. Once you reformat the memory card, transfer those photos back to the memory card using the computer.

Missing pictures

Hey flowernthe,
The error message “card cannot be read" means there was and error when the camera tried to access the memory card. To fix this you should make sure you are using the right kind of memory card, which for this kind of camera is a SD card, and it does not support SDHc cards. Since this camera uses SD cards I would make sure the slider on the side of the card is not set to the locked position. If this doesn't help I would make sure the memory card connecters are clean, and if they're not you can use a rubber eraser to clean them up. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
