This running pattern often indicates a lean fuel mix.

Unfortunately, with today's environmental hysteria, you probably will not be able to adjust the carburetor enough to get it to run better. If you do have any carburetor adjustment available, try turning the screw (the high speed screw, if there are two) counter-clockwise a bit. This will allow more gas into the mixture. Most small engines today have limiter caps that prevent very much carburetor adjustment.

Here is the Zama carburetor tech guide. Pay close attention to the diagrams, it does show exactly what gaskets go where.

I have a makita backpack petrol strimmer fitted with a line head can i fit a brushcutter blade instead i donot have the full model No it is a 41cc engine it is an early model

Hi Doug,

There are adapters for just about every combination of trimmer, brush cutter blade, grass gator, etc. you can think of.

One of the most handy purchases has been a non specific arbor adapter set. Not only does it have 2or 3 each of the most common nuts in both left and right hand thread, it has inserts that keep every blade, flail and brushcutter I've tried dead center.

It even came with a diamond shaped one for a skillsaw blade that I tried with my Ryobi 4 cycle. That thing turns thorny blackberry vines to powder.

So the answer is yes.

Best regards

I have a Ryobi brushcutter that is 4 years old. When I was using it the other day it just would not run at full throttle. I checked spark plug, air filter and fuel filter. No adjustments on carb. I have no...

Smokey 2 cycle oil will cause the exhaust ports to carbon up and plug the spark arrestor.
Remove the muffler, use a pick to clean out the exhaust port on the engine, and the muffler inside opening, then clean the spark arrestor screen, to assure yourself you are correcting the problem start the machine up with the muffler off, it should run like a charm, if it goes back to running badly when you reattach the muffler it may be clogged on the inside.

The fuel lines on my ryobi stinger scorpion brushcutter have deteriorated, I;ve fitted new lines but I think I;ve connected them incorrectly, it won't run.

Fuel filter to bottom of carb. The suction port of primer to the top of carb outlet line to other port to tank.
To tell which port is outlet put your finger on one port and push bulb if the bulb collapses and doesn't return then that is the inlet (suction) side.

PS. I would buy some carb cleaner and gently spray in the inlets of the carbs (sometimes pieces of the fuel lines get in there).
Good luck!
