I recently purchased a laptop that is running Windows Vista. I downloaded the Vista compatible program/drivers from the HP web site for my Photosmart 3310 printer (the printer originally came with Windows XP compatible software). This printer is visible on my network and I can print a test page from the printers menu without any difficulty. After I installed the Vista compatible software/drivers, I ran "add a bluetooth device" and the Photosmart 3310 printer was recognized and I could print without difficulty. However, after a few days my lap top could no longer recognize the 3310 printer. I uninstalled the software and then re-installed it. The printer worked fine again for a few days and then my lap top stopped recognizing it. The distance between my lap top and printer is not long and all other bluetooth devices work fine with my lap top. There are no problems with my network either.
So, my question is: Why does my lap top recognize the 3310 printer for a few days and then stop recognizing it? I have installed and un-installed the 3310 Vista compatible software 3 or 4 times but this problem still persists. Can anyone recommend a solution?
Sounds like another Vista Bug, i would check the HP site for this issue and if its under warranty, contact HP. If you have alot of Blue tooth devices hooked up, it may be that its trying to use another device in its place or the signals are getting crossed, im not positive.
Its like when you have to many network drives all hooked up and you plug in a USB device, Windows pops up those anoying bubles saying its detected, but in My computer it doesnt show.
So bassically you have to right click my computer, manage, disk management listed uder storage, right click on the device or drive and change the drive letter to something like " W" or " Z" or anything not in use.
It may be a siomilar case with your bluetooth, youo may have to much stuff connected. Try redoing everything like you have so many other times before, and then limiting how many bluetooth devices you have connected at the same time. see if theres a difference.
Hope this helps.
