Track rail bends when closing the door

I tried to adjust the open and close limits, but the trolley keeps traveling so far that the track rail bends when the door closes completely. I adjusted the arm that connects the trolley with the door as straight as I could, but no good results. any suggestions? thanks!

I think you need to take the cover off the motor unit and watch the limit switch assembly in operation. Takes only a few seconds to see how it works and see if it is damaged in some way. You need to turn the down limit adjustment in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover to stop the door sooner. I think the down force adjustment on the rear of the motor unit is out of adjustment also. This adjustment affects the safety of the opener and should only be adjusted high enough to consistently close the door.

Moter makes a skeeking noise

Check the track rollers. Lube if dry.
Check the trolley, lube as needed.
Check the long lead screw the trolley follows, lube as needed with lube for that type of opener. If it is in the motor housing, is it time for a new opener?

I had an opener that drifted in adjustment, that would go beyond the closed position a little causing the rail to bow upwards a little once closed, putting strain on the gearing shaft bearings and wore them out. I was able to order a package with the pinion gear, drive gear and sprocket and bushings, including the pulley for the opposing end in one kit.

Cautions...
-Disengage the trolley from the belt, chain or lead screw.
-Unplug the power before opening any opener covers and servicing anything inside the unit.
-Readjust the open and close travel positions

Garage door is closing to tight

Your closing travel length is too long and your pressure limit setting too strong...you must take the cover off the operating box..there are adjustments for opening and closing travel. have someone operate the door up and down..as you close the door watch the chain or belt if the door puts pressure " bending" on the track when it bottoms out..adjust the travel to lesson it keep doing this until it stops without putting pressure on the rail. Then do the same fir the close travel..after you set the travel..there is a pressure limit adjusment. All doors must retract when something gets in the way going down and up..mostly down to protect kids, animals and such from getting hurt if it kept going down under pressure..you must test that do it...you do that by putting something in the path of the door coming down or have someone use their hand..I use a basket ball it gives a little then the door stops and heads back up..just adjust to a pressure that will allow the door to bottom out and not automaticky go back up..this sounds long but is fairly easy once you get into the box..good luck..

Garage opener try to close door when door at close position

There are upper and lower limit settings, it sounds like you have the lower limit set to low. Adjust it so it stops the door as it contacts the floor and see if this solves the problem. It is possible these limit controls are damaged and will not stay set. If that is the case it may be best to replace the opener if you cannot find a replacement.

1/2 horse garage door opener doesn,t open all the way. I need about a foot more lift. The tried a trolley stops before the stop limit..Therre is no interference. I Tried adjusting the up limit to no...

You said you adjusted the up limit already. Is it adjusted as far as possible? Usually the screw will become harder to turn. You mention a new door and spring but is the opener the same? My guess is you have a new opener as well and it is out of sync with the trolley. Try turning the up limit back and see if the trolley will stop shorter. If it does, loosen the chain or belt so that you can remove if from the opener's drive gear. Bring the trolley to your stop limit and put the chain/belt back on the gear. Adjust the chain/gear tension and try door operation again. If it was a sync problem, the door should close closer to your limit. Adjust up and down travel as necessary to fine tune it. This worked for me so good luck.

Chamberlain 4200C doesnt open or close properly

You did not sync the chain correctly. If you have not touched the travel limits, take chain off sprocket and run door to either up or down position. Put chain back on with trolley in up or down, accordingly. Tension and make final travel adjustments.

I just installed a sears craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener. when i close the garage door with the remote the chain track bends up just about 12 inches before it closes all the way, and this only happens...

What is wrong is you need to adjust the limit on the door when it comes up. What it is doing is coming to far back on the track. You need to push the back limit forward away from the motor so the door does not come back and drop down on the inside of the garage. The opener is trying to push the door up hill to get it to close that is why you are getting the bend in the track.

Good Luck

Can the travel limits on a Chamberlain security+ be reset?

If you are at the back of the operator looking toward the door the limit adjustment should be on the left hand side.
The adjustment closest to the door is the down limit turn that 3 turns clockwise. The adjustment screw furthest from the door is the up limit turn this screw 3 turns counterclockwise. That should get you close to factor settings. If this does not work; remove the cover on the operator sometimes the limit assy. come apart.

Installed new PD432D opener from Home Depot. Inadvertently ran motor before connecting rail and screw drive. After connecting, I cannot get upper limit adjustment to bring rack all the way to full open...

You have to set the limit adjustments to the factory settings and then make sure the trolley placement is in the up position and install from there. You can't do this by simply adjusting the limits. This might be a case when you hire an installer. 100.00 dollars should do it, depending on the market. Thanks BB

Garage door opens all the way only closes half way down

Hi,
Some of your comments look like they're missing but from what I can see you had to put chain back on and now the door doesn't close all the way.take the cover off and look at the limit switch, this the travel adjustment. The switch for the close side is making contact too soon so it shuts off early. You need to adjust contacts so its further away. Depending on where the trolley was when you reattached the chain, you might not be able to adjust it back enough. But try it first. If you still come up short you will have to take the chain back off and move the trolley back to where the door would be closed and reattach chain. now open position will probably need adjustment leave door unhooked and just let trolley move in case it over shoots the mark either way.

3/4hp craftsman will not close the door fully

There are adjustments on the unit itself that control the distance door travels to close as well as the force it uses to close. The info and location of controls is indicated in the manual that came with your unit.
