How to turn on wireless router on Gateway 3230

Wireless routers are turned on by the operating system. Goto windows control panel find wireless and scan hotspots to connect one on your wifi card. In linux(Ubuntu) there is an icon near date and time on the desktop toolbar that connects to wifi automatically.

How do I get a RCA modem to run in Ubuntu Linux? The modem works in XP, just fine.

There are no drivers to operate the modem as a USB device. Using a crossover cable (one should have come with the modem), you should be able to connect to it via the Ethernet ports on your computer and the modem.

Before connecting to the internet wired or wireless, a blue screen occur... I unistalled wireless drivers and re-istalled again, I replaced the wireless unit with a new one using the original configuration...

Try getting the driver from the manufacture on the internet. The driver maybe corrupt causing a blue screen. Another solution is to use a live linux cd, example puppy linux and see if works that way.

Wireless router not working.

Power cycle the modem/router, which ever it is, or both.

Unplug the power, let it sit for about 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait til all the light stop flashing. Internet light may flicker with activity.

Networking with windows

Hello there.

Nice to see more people using Linux and Ubuntu. For information on how to share your Ubuntu folder to linux, over file sharing click here

You basically only need to right click the folder you want to share, in Ubuntu, then enable sharing and when prompted to install services, tick the box called 'Install Windows network support'

Hope this helps.

ps: if you haven't seen the Ubuntu community documentation, click here
