I have the same Sony Handycam and was planning to purchase an imac. I'm trying to find out whether I'll be able to upload video from camera to an imac. Anybody know how?

You need iMovie to get the video and edit to mac.

Step 1: Connect camcorder to your Mac computer with cable (USB/Wifi)
Step 2: Select mode of camcorder such as PC/Computer mode Step 3: iMovie will automatic open Import window Step 4: If DVD Player automatic open. just quit DVD Player first Step 5: So Now, you can review your video or select "Import All"(make sure your switch is set to "Automatic") Step 6: If you select "Manual", you can import some clip to iMovie Step 7: If you import from Tape based device (DV/HDV), iMovie will automatic revise tape and import all Step 8: iMovie automatic create thumbnail video after complete import

This solution requires a Tivo II or higher. My Tivo is networked with my Mac, so video from the camera goes into the Tivo, from the Tivo to the Mac, and from there it is up to Toast and the Tivo Transfer software. Getting the video into I-movie requires the extra step of converting it via Final Cut. It is a convoluted process, but it works - next time I buy a Mac compatable Video, but this one was $99 on Ebay!

I have a sony handy cam model ccd-trv37 on which I just recorded my son at his high school musical. i now want to transfer this tape recording to my Apple Imac so I can edit it and send it to friends. Is...

Yes, firewire or IEEE1394 also called iLink.
Most cameras have a 4 pin connection and Macs a 6, newer models use 9 pin.
iMovie should be on your Mac and this will capture the footage.

I appear unable to obtain a dcr-hc24 handycam driver for my IMAC?

Not needed.
Connect your camera to the Mac with a four to six pin firewire cable and you will be able to capture.
Note: Some newew Macs have 800 firewire ports which use a nine pin cable.

I accidentaly dropped my Sony DCR-DVD103 and I tried to access the disk inserted in the unit and I got this error, all other disks work fine, it is only the disk that was in the cam at the time it dropped....

yea.... well the camera tape in at the time probably got jammed. By the way, did you get the tape out? if you did the camera cannot except the tape because it refers to it as broken. This may or may not be true. Try playing that tape on another sony camera, and see if it works.

Hello, I have the Sony Handycam DCR-dvd101 and I need the driver update. I have a Mac laptop. Do you know if theirs a download for the Mac?

The supplied software is not compatible with Mac Computer and Sony does provide any software or driver for Mac Computer for this Camcorder.

However, you can transfer the video to the Mac Computer. Refer the link given below for the instruction:

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C455189

After that you can use any Video Editing Software to edit the video in the Computer.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DCR-TRV19 compatible with an apple computer?

Hi heather719,

Unfortunately, the DCR-TRV19 is only compatible with windows - see the list of compatible versions at this address:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DCRTRV19

The only compatibility it has with Macs (and it doesn't always work) is to view still images via USB cable. In order to do this, you must manually install the required drivers from the software CD on your Mac. See the user's manual for instructions on how to do this:

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/DCRTRV19.pdf

The reason the video playback is not compatible with Macs is that you have to use an iLink cable, which is Sony's version of an IEEE 1394 ("Firewire") cable, and the iLink is only compatible with PCs (since that's what Sony makes).

If you want to get content from the tape in your camera onto a Mac, you must either:
1) Load it onto a PC, save it to a portable memory device, and transfer it, or...
2) Connect a MiniDV deck to your Mac, take the tape out of your camera, and put in the deck (like a VCR).

I'm sorry I can't give you better news - please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.

Kind regards,
H2H
