My dell monitor flashes on and off when I put dell laptop on dell base station. Eventually it settles after the flashing becomes less and less. I have put dell laptop on another identical setup, base station and monitor and there are no problems.

If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized, you might have a corrupted docking profile. Undock the computer and dock it again once it has fully started up to reset the docking profile. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If you have an external monitor and it is not working, completely close the lid on the laptop so the image will move to the external monitor. Plug your power adapter into the docking station and dock your laptop onto/into the docking station. If power is going through the docking station but no accessories are being recognized and resetting the docking profile fails, update all drivers through Dell's support website and then re-dock the computer. Inspect the pins inside the network connector. They have to be even and stright. Sometimes people put there a phone cord connector and it bends pins 1, 2, 7 and 8. To recover use a needle with slightly bended tip. Hook the pin with the bended tip and pul until strightened.

When you say flashes, is it like portion of the screen flickers?

If the flickering/flashes starts in Dell screen just right after turning on the laptop, when you see the Windows logo or just right after you log in to windows?

Try connecting your laptop to an external monitor then toggle display. To toggle the display to external monitor you can try holding down keys such as the function keys.

If the problem persist from the external monitor it means the problem is the motherboard or the video/graphics card.

If no problem from the external monitor this means laptop LCD and LCD cable needs to be replaced.

A flashing green is usually a power supply failure on the main board of the LCD and a protective shut down circuit kicks in when the voltages are not correct at the check sum.
This also depending on the circuit configuration that the monitor is in standby mode. Your user manual can give you this information.
This also may be the video card itself or a loose cable.
Check the monitor cable to see if it is secured.
Also check you resolution settings on the PC. This procedure will require you to connect another monitor to the pc to see if it will bring a signal.
If a signal is visible then the video card is ok.
If not then you will have to check the video driver for the video graphic display card and or replace the card.

Did you try to use external monitor (plug to the port VGA output) ? if you can see something on the external monitor, should be problem with the small monitor switch (when you close your notebook then become standby an monitor blank)

Try updating to BIOS to version A16 from http://support.dell.com Ensure you are not attached to the docking station when flashing the BIOS. Once updated, connect the 90W adapter to the docking station, connect your laptop to the dock, and power on using the docking station power button.

this is easier than you think my friend, firstly put the dock on your desk, plug in power lead, network cable and monitor cable, place laptop on dock (making sure it clicks into place) turn on dock and monitor and your up and running

Are You using a extention cord or a ups that is not funtioning properly....?? if yes try connecting the power for the monitor seperately or directly to a plug base...

The 500A base station is definitely compatible with the 510 earpiece. If the earpiece is turned off or unpaired the base station's red power light will be flashing. If the earpiece is already off, try turning it on by holding down the little black button on top. The base station will automatically try to find the earpiece and the blue light on top of the base will come on. If the earpiece is already on (slow flashing blue light on the mic boom) turn it off and back on again and wait for the base to find it.

eventually contacted the BT team via telephone and apparently this is a common problem when using BT products with Talktalk & Virgin. To overcome this in the majority of cases, dial 1571 and connect to your voicemail, listen to the options and finally delete all messages. Hope this can be added to your list of solutions.
