Here's what you can do. Don't connect the Linksys router yet to the hub. Connect 1 computer directly to the Linksys router. Access the router's setup page of the Linksys router thru http://192.168.1.1

It will prompt you for username and password. No username and password is admin.

Look for Local IP Address or LAN IP Address. Change the LAN or Local IP Address of the Linksys router to 192.168.5.1 then click on Save Settings at the bottom. Right after saving the settings, unplug the power of the Linksys router, connect it to the hub and it should be good to go.

I have 2 Dell laptops using a Linksys WRT54GS but I can only use one at a time. Have to shutdown one to use the other.. What to do????

your router is not functioning as a router... its acting as a hub... your router is in the dormant state and it is acting as a pass through device....In this case you will not get an ip address from router, instead you will get an ip address directly from the modem....

you need to reset the router and reconfigure it according to the internet service provider....only that would help....

Cant get WiFi conection keeps asking for password cannot remember it

Try resetting the router back to factory default, and set up again with a new password. What make and model of router are you using? Just ran into this issue with neighbors 2 new Kindles, which connect fine to my NetGear router, but will not connect to their Linksys WRT54GS router.

Linksys wrt54gs changing upnp settings

Hi, you can enable UPnP on a Linksys WRT54GS router by logging in and then clicking on the Administration tab. The first sub-tab is Management, and at the bottom of that page there are buttons to enable or disable UPnP. Click Enable and then click Save Settings at the bottom of the screen.

Need help need help with WAP54g access point with WAP54g access point I recently had to help try to fix a small office network. Currently it has a netgear ds116 hub with a wap54g connected to the hub for...

Hey !
you said that you that you reset the WAP54G , the default IP address address of WAP is 192.168.1.245.
The IP address that you tried ( 192.168.1.1 ) must be the IP addres of the sonic firewall which might be acting as a DHCP server.
To access the WAP54G set up. you will need to connect the computer to the HUB and the WPA to the hub with the cable and then try to access WPA with the IP address 192.168.1.245

So have a hub and a wireless access point at office.
Do u have a router in the network at office ?
The default IP address of the WAP54G will be 192.168.1.245.
The Sonic firewall is a different thing.
I think you are accessing the set up interface of the sonic wall with the IP address 192.168.1.1.
Where is the access point connected ?
Is it connected to the sonic firewall ?
The access point does not have the DHCP server.

Linksys WRT54GS

No, you should however, log into your Linksys's admin page and copy your settings down. Put those back into your Netgear and you should be good to go.

Linksys router not connecting

Very hard to say without getting into more technical details. Sounds like you may have a bad router, but more likely there is something wrong with the setup. You probably need someone with technical expertise to walk you through all the steps.

Have you tried calling Linksys tech support? They may be able to help. Also, you might try buying a different router just to give it a try. I've had good success with Netgear in addition to Linksys. I generally stay away from DLink.

Trying to turn a Linksys WRT54GS into a hub

  1. If you want to set the router to work only as a switch with wireless access point, you may need to get into its setup page and adjust some settings.
  2. Using a computer that is wired directly to one of the router's Ethernet ports, launch IE and type 192.168.1.1. It is the default IP address of the router. Then it will open a window, asking for a username and password. By default, there is no username and the password is admin.
  3. Once you're in the router's User Interface, look for a sub tab called "Advanced Routing" under the main tab SETUP. Then set router mode to "Router" instead of Gateway. In some router's, the choice there is NAT enable or disable. If it is the one showing there instead of Router mode, then set NAT to disable. Click Save settings which is located at the bottom portion of the screen.
  4. Then click on "Basic Setup" and then disable DHCP server. Save the settings then.
  5. Then your modem now will be connected to one of the 4 Ethernet ports of the router.
Hope this helps!
