Not many people will repair microwaves because they are mostly an uneconomical repair when the magnatron or diode goes.it is best, cheaper and safer to replace.

The problem could be caused:
top door micro-switch
or
Answer: First, make sure your microwave is plugged in and getting an ample supply of power. If the power is on, but it does not work check to make sure the door closes and aligns properly. Microwave door switches have metal terminals on the end that make contact with the door hook or latch. This completes the circuit which allows the microwave oven to run and without this contact the microwave will not operate. A simple misalignment might be breaking the circuit causing the microwave not to operate.
If you suspect that the thermal fuse has blown, call a professional appliance repair person. Even an unplugged microwave oven can kill or seriously injure someone. This is because there is a high energy capacitor inside the microwave oven case. If it is not discharged properly, you could be electrocuted.
If your microwave buzzes or hums but does not produce any heat, it could be a faulty defective diode, triode, high-voltage capacitor, or even a faulty magnetron. However, this problem usually means a bad means a bad magnetron, followed by a bad diode. Call a professional appliance repair person for assistance.
Warning: Microwave ovens are probably the most dangerous of consumer appliances to service due to the very high voltages (up to 5000 V) at potentially very high currents. If you have any doubts about your knowledge and abilities, replace the oven or have it professionally repaired.

Mic.oven takes longer to heat food

The microwave may not be cooking at full power, check the settings. If okay the magnetron is on it's way out and will eventually fail.

My microwave doesn't work, but display works

I would strongly consider replacing the microwave oven, prices have dropped considerably. The problem you are describing is in the keypad controller board.

The oven doesn't work, the timer works and the light comes on

This is a strong indicator the magnetron has failed "heats food" and is the heart of the system. If microwave oven is a few years old better to invest in new.

Everything works but unit will not come on to heat If I push start it clicks and timer starts but unit does not come on

The most likely problem is caused by a defective magnetron, "heats food" It is cheaper to replace that microwave oven than have it repaired.

Will not heat

Is this a microwave you are talking about? If the clock and timer works, the light comes on and the tray revolves, but it doesn't cook food or heat stuff up, it is most likely the magnetron. Probably best to just buy another, as the cost of repairs not worth it.

My GE spacemaker microwave doesn't heat up foods. There is a slight bit of heat generated but not much. All timers, lights, etc. work normal. It is a GE model jvm1440. It is about 3 years old. The problem...

IT COULD BE A NUMBER OF THINGS RANGING FROM DIODES TO CAPACITORS TO YOUR MAGNATRON OR THERMOSTAST OR TRANSFORMERS. IT'S DIFFICULT TO DIAGNOSE WITHOUT SEEING THIS MICROWAVE. YOU MAY BE BETTER OFF GETTING YOURSELF A DIFFERENT ONE.
