Frigidaire Dryer GLER341AS2, tumbles but not heating

My Frigidaire dryer model GLER341AS2 was squeaking but cleaned out the lint and it stopped. Yesterday it was running hot and when opened it was not tumbling, orange in the back panel, and then heard a pop from the back. I replaced the idle assembly and spring and it tumbles now. I checked both fuses in the fuse box and they are still good. Now, I'm looking "under the hood" and trying to figure out whether the problem is the thermal fuse limiter or the high limit thermostat. I had thought the thermostat was in the front near the lint catch line with the air flow, so am thinking it's the thermal fuse limiter on the back pan for the heating element. Am I on track? Would like to get it going without having to spend more than I can put out at this time.

I would say your right on track, check your heating coil when you locate it also...just in case.
Good luck,
Hope this helps...

Frigidaire #FSE748GFS1 is tumbling fine, but feels (& Smells) Way Too Hot! Over-heating is what lead me to fixing a broken heating coil, so I assumed fixing it would solve the over-heating.

Sounds like a stuck thermostat or sensor.
Be VERY careful with this because it could burn-up.
For safety reasons I suggest trash it and buy a new one.

Are you mechanically inclined? You may have several problems. 1st, heating element is most likely burnt out. Then I would check ball and socket assembly that back of drum fits into. Also check felt in front of machine that drum rides on. May need competent service person on this.

My frigidaire dryer model number gler341as2 is giving me a burning smell why is that?

Hi kmcgilvery...
That burning smell is probably a lint build up in the blower system of the dryer.
You will need to remove the back of the dryer and look for the vent tubing going to the hose connected to the outside. Once you find the tubing then disassemble and clean the tubing and blower wheel of dust...then clean your flexible vent tubing you have attached to the back of the dryer.
