Two ways one your cd player has to be compatable with an aux. jack input. If it does get a aux. cable that plugs into your headphone output on your ipod and plug it into the aux. input on the cd player. If you do not have a compatable cd player you can buy an AM/FM transmitter that will tune to your radio station on your cd player, plug your aux. cable into it and tune to your radio. wal-mart sells them. If useing aux.cable you must make sure you cd player in on aux. mode. If useing transmitter make sure to tune to radio station that has just static then match the transmitter to that station.

HOW DO I HOOK UP AN IPOD TO A CD MIX2 , i hooked it into the aux on the back, i didnt get no sound evevrything was hooked up ,

You would need a Stereo jack to RCA cable. Input into Aux channel in rear, make sure your switch on faceplate is set to Aux. You may also need to turn up volume on the ipod.

Can i hook this up directly to an ipod,or do i have to use one of those radio frequency things?

From what little research I did it does not look like you can connect and Ipod without extra gear. Here is a link to some of the accessories that you can hook up to it:

If It was me, I would just spend the money on a stereo with a usb port. Then you can connect your Ipod directly to the cd player and operate your Ipod playlist with the cd player itself. Plug it in throw your Ipod in a cubby hole and use the cd player.

Is there a way of connecting my ipod to my sherwood cd player?

The answer isn't with the CD player, it's with the amp.
Does the amp have selectable inputs, or does it just have one input for each channel?

If it's a simple power amp, then you'll have to unplug the CD player and connect your iPod to the amp inputs. I'm guessing that the CD player connects to the amp with RCA (phono) connectors like these ones.
If that's the case, you can get a cable (like this one at Radio Shack, but any office supply store will have one too) to connect your iPod to the amp.

Speaker cuts out when ipod is hooked up to audio in port

try isolating the problem by inserting other sources such as tape deck, portable cd players, game consoles, if they work fine, test you ipod cable. next test you ipod on other audio in ports such as karaoke or other component stereos, ask a friend if he or she has one. test both, you may now have the idea where the trouble is.

My Phase Linear UV8 and my Ipod

I wasn't able to find the manual for your Head unit. But, if you have jlink capability with your UV8 and you have an ipod jlink cable, you should just be able to plug the cable in. Then hook up your ipod and the head unit should recognize it when you try to select "ipod" for your source. I wish I could offer more info but like I said I wasn't able to see the manual and I am basing my answer off of what it takes for Kenwood headunits which use a similar "bus" type cable like your jlink. I hope I could help. Let me know if you need furthur assistance. I would happily help.

Ipod hookup

I believe that you are lucky since the "P" in the model number of the deck indicates and extra input source on the rear of your deck. This is used right now by your changer. You need to replace the changer with the Ipod and you are done. Stereo mini to dual rca's and you are done.

I tryed to use the red and white plug ins in the back to hook my ipod up but when i play my ipod i hear the ipod and either the radio or a cd is it possible for me to b able to hook my ipod up with out...

The RCA red and white plugs are OUTPUTS to connect to an amplifier. You are driving one audio source against another-which isn't good. There is no aux input to connect your iPod to. Copy your Ipod music to a CD-R instead and then play it in the pioneer.
