Tecra 9000 problems on keyboard

Hi, I have a toshiba tecra 9000. The keyboard is almost completely gone haywire, when I select any key I get to response. The mouse is pointing correctly but when I doubleclick on an icon it doesn't open, it gives the properties of that icon only. Shall I unistall the operating system (windows xp pro) or shall I throw the laptop away?Or what else? :-)
thank you!

Is the sound controlled by any key

Most Toshiba laptops have a volume control on the side of the computer. Look for a small control like on a radio.

I have toshiba Tecra 9000 laptop, its USB ports and Keyboard EXTERNAL port is not working. please help me

It's a common problem with the Tecra 9000's - either one or both USB ports and sometimes the external KB port along with it. The 2 USB's and external KB port (and the TV out port next to it) are all located on the same daughterboard that plugs into the motherboard, and in your case, more than likely the connector on the motherboard is bad (gotten loose). There's no easy fix for this unless you've got an ultra-fine soldering tip, good soldering skills....

How about a workaround? A PC card (PCMCIA card) that gives you 2 or 4 high speed USB 2.0 ports - it'll stick out a little on the right hand side, but in return you'll have fast USB ports, and you can use a USB keyboard with the thing.

How to replace your Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop keyboard ?

It's easy to break the flimsy keys on laptop. In order to better protect the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 notebook keyboard, some friends, instead, use USB keyboard. But if you work outdoors, carrying a USB keyboard is not convenient. You still have to use the laptop keyboard. Once a laptop keyboard stops working, there is no option but to replace it. You can use these steps to replace the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard.

1. Take out the battery and AC adapter, unplugged from the wall, enusre the laptop is fully powered off.
2. Remove those screws with a T-8 or Phillips screwdriver.
3. Turn the laptop back over and open it up. Check and see if the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard is tucked under any plastic pieces. If so, find them if those plastic pieces are screwed into anything, and unfasten them as well. If not, it probably uses clamps that can easily be removed.
4. Remove the plastic pieces carefully.
5. Unscrew any screws at the top (if necessary) and remove the keyboard itself from top to bottom. You'll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.
6. Disconnect the data cable attachment of the keyboard which will sever all the remaining attachments of the laptop keyboard with the laptop computer motherboard. To remove this cable, you have to just carefully pull it out from the socket to which it is attached. Then you can lift out the entire keyboard out of the laptop.
7. Take the new Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard out of the plastic and place it inside with the right orientation, attach the data cable.
8. Refasten the keyboard in place at the top.
9. If you had to remove any plastic pieces, carefully snap them back in and replace any screws you had to remove.
10. Turn the laptop over and replace all of the keyboard screws.
11. Put the laptop battery back in place and switch it on to check Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 keyboard functionality. If everything has gone according to plan, you should be ready to type away!

You have to remember that once you open up the Toshiba Tecra A2-S119 laptop computer for keyboard replacement, the warranty provided by the manufacturer stands void. We personally suggest that you do it on your own only if you are in a really desperate situation and there is no way you can get maintenance from the manufacturer. I hope this assists you. John

Hello, I just received a used Toshiba tecra 9000 laptop and it is missing the "mouse" and I need a part number so I may buy one.

Since the Tecra 9000's mouse is actually the Accupoint that's located within the keyboard, it cannot possible be missing the mouse (unless it's missing the keyboard).
Unless you're missing the Accupoint cap. Only place to order them is from Toshiba Support.

Toshiba tecra 9000 laptop missing mouse "toggle"

Great! The part number you seek is P000329030, Below is a link to purchase a refurb keyboard. They work just as well as a new one but at less cost. I think a new board will run you between $85-$100 dollars depending on where you go. (My company, C2Solutions, sells it for $84.95 new and free shipping.) When you do get it, it's fairly easy to install the new one. Good Luck and glad to help. Franklin

Toshiba tecra 9000 wont start

Blue screens are generally operating system failure. You will need to reinstall your XP home. Format the drive NTFS, instead of FAT32. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is the failure and will need replaced.

I want to completly restore my Tecra M4 to an "as delivered" condition. What keys do I press at start up to do this?? Or is there another technique??

Hold down the zero (0) key on the Tecra keyboard whilst turning the power on. You should hear a series of beeps and be presented with a restore menu where you select option 1, 2 or 3 depending on your circumstances.
