With it connected open applications and select utilities and then go to disk utility, open that and when it is loaded the maxtor should be in the list, you need to erase it, this will install the apple operating info (it should read some sort of f.a.t. to start with) you will loose all of the information on it

Factory reset button on macbook pro

There is no 'Factory Reset' button as such. If you are running OS 10.7 to 10.10, then you need to start up from the 'recovery' partition (CMD+R) on startup. You will then be able to erase the hard drive using 'Disk Utility' and then re-install the OS.

It sounds like there is debris beneath the keys. I would recommend using a blower to clear it out.

How do we find the flash drive on macbook pro?

Thank You for using FixYa

When you plug in a flash drive on a macbook pro you will see an icon appear on the desktop with the name of the usb flash drive

Also, by going into the finder, on the left hand side of the screen you will see the connected drives. It should be under your hard drive.

?have 17 inch macbook pro and 24 inch apple monitor, also apple wireless mouse and keyboard. Every once in a while the mouse and keyboard lose connection but the trackpad works with the monitor along with...

If you have "good batteries" installed in the mouse and keyboard and you still have the problem- the best way is to remove the devices via the System Preference panel in your MacBook and then re-install them again. It is important that you remove them first as the system may revert to the previous connection. Good luck!

MacBook Software Updater - continually prompts to install an update

You're probably not actually flashing the firmware, but downloading the utility to do so. Follow these steps:
1. Quit all other open applications. Open the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware update which is in your Utilities directory

2. Click Shut Down in the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update window and wait for your computer to shut down.

3. Press and hold the power button on your MacBook Pro until the power indicator light flashes repeatedly, then release the power button to begin the update.

A status bar indicates the progress of the update.

Important: Do not interrupt the update.

Your computer restarts automatically when the update is completed and opens the MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update.

4. Click OK, if the firmware is now up-to-date.
