Garage door went up about 6 inches and stopped. Door can be raised and lowered by hand without without disengageing it. Inside garage control only produces a clicking sound in motor area when pressing pad. Is there a reset button on this thing somewhere? It's a ''LIFTMASTER'' brand opener. 48047

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. Most likely stripped. The part number is 41A2817 and is available at any good door service company. It comes with instructions but you must be a DIY'er.

Cannot open my garage door manually after I disengage it from the garage door opener (chain drive)

They are not light weight but there is no reason if the motor can raise it, then you cannot raise it by hand.

Garage door only raises about two inches then stops.

Check the door springs and also remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. The door spring could be broken or the drive gear may be stripped.

The sensors only work when the door is closing.

Craftsman 1/2 HP garage opener opens only 6 inches

Remove the cover and check the drive gear. It is white nylon and is just in front of the motor. It may be stripped. Take a close look at those door springs. They can sometime appear to be okay when one is broken.

Two identical Sears doors jump about 6 to 8 inches up when opener button pressed. Periodically doors will stop at that point, need to be closed and then reopened to operate properly. Have tried adjusting...

It sounds like the door springs may be mis-adjusted. Release the doors from the opener and try raising and lowering them manually. They should not try to rise on their own.

Garage door will not open or close

Hello, You should have a cord in the middle if the track up high to release the door from the motor bracket. i would release it and confirm that the door will raise and lower with you pushing it. Then if the door feels free I would lower the door manual and go over the the inside button and press it to see if the motor will run without the pressure of the door. This will at least pinpoint where your problem is. The door itself could just be in a bind within the tracks so by releasing it from the motor that might free it up.

I hope this helps you and have a great weekend.

My 1/2 hp Chamberlain garage door stops while going down even when I am holding the wall unit. If I stop it and restart it goes a little further and then stops. Both sensors have green lights and they are...

On the back of the motor unit you will find the down force control. You may have to remove a light lens depending on your model. Increase this a 1/4 turn and try.
