We shipped it from one house to another and had help from packers. They packed it horizontally and when we opened the box we found oily substance had leaked out. There is no instruction in the book for oiling and no indication on the picture of a place to oil it. White lithium grease is white until it gets used but I didn't think it turned into oily looking substance. So, wondering what to do before I use it and possibly ruin it.

You can call your local hobart branch for the part number, but you use lithium grease in the unit.in order to change the grease the transmission needs to be opened and so does the planetary. i service these mixers alot i work for hobart.if you need any more help/questions let me know.

For best results use only the grease that Hobart recommends. Do not use any grease that is not rated as FOOD GRADE! You can buy it direct from Hobart or you can ask their parts people for the type of grease and source it yourself. Generally, only specialty retailers stock food grade grease.

I have a Hobart 60 qt mixer that has oil coming out the top around the shaft cover. What would cause this?

Do you really mean a 60 qt. mixer? That is industrial size and would be about 4' tall. Maybe a 6 qt. mixer? In either case, oil coming out around the shaft cover indicates that someone either over-lubricated the mixer or used the wrong viscosity lubrication. Has it been serviced recently? You might need to take it back to wherever it was serviced.

What oil should I use for the Hobart Mixer P660?

A good standard 90 wt oil is what is ok for the gearcase. This is an old email from a hobart service tech and they recomend a special oil ordered from them. So you can decide which you want to use. "EXXON SPARTAN EP-150 (6 oz)" in the M802 planetary. Hobart part #102973-13. This IS NOT a food grade oil. If you mixer is leaking you shouldhave it serviced. Service, parts , lubricants and information canbe obtained by contacting your local Hobartoffice in Pittsburgh@ (412) 788-5380. Steve Davis Field Engineer -

What kind of oil use this

I came across a manual for a Blakeslee f-40 60 80 and here is what it said. Hope this helps

Lubrication
The planetary and spiral-beveled gears are self-lubricated for life. The lubrication used is micromly grease and must be re-applied if gears are replaced. The transmission uses Mobil "delvic 1" synthetic oil which should last the normal life of the mixer. No lubrication is required for the auxiliary drive hub.
If lubrication is applied to the auxiliary hub a grease-like substance will possibly leak out causing damage to the product.
Applications of any lubrication will Void Warranty.

I have oil coming from the front of a hobart a200 mixer,What to look for? and what kind of oil?

If you have oil leaking from the attachment hub, the transmission grease has liquified. The transmission will need to be opened so the old lubricant can be removed, by scooping it out. There aren't any seals in the attachment hub, just two torrington needle bearings. The helical gears thrust the pinion gear onto a thrust bearing in the hub to create a seal. The hub has a return hole in it's casting for excess lube to return internally. It's possible the return hole is restricted. On the other hand, if the machine has been filled with oil, it will probably leak like a siv.
The new lube should be 35 OZ of mobil XPH 222,
Hobart part number is 103881-47 for 32OZ.

I want to buy some oil to lubricate my hobart slicer .what to use

If you can, remoove the blade - very carefully. Clean everything where you can. It's a virtual trash holder under the blade. Where the blade mounts, you can use mineral oil to lubricate the bearing. If it makes any contact with food, it won't hurt you.

Hobart 140 Qt Mixer 4 speed. needs the oil changed? what kind of oil to use?

You can use a heavy weight gear oil or call the local hobart branch for it.To remove oil----Look under the mixer where the beater shaft is in the back and you will see a three quarter inch nut, remove this nut and drain the oil then put nut back in.To fill the unit remove the top cover screws and remove the top,you will see a long hexagon nut in length, remove this and grab a funnel then add the oil---be patient it takes time to fill as the oil is heavy.
