Sharp LC 37HV4M Flashing red light on screen when attempt to switch on and the remote tuner box wont fire up even though the power is on?

The simple fix is stop playing with the side buttons and buy a new remote for $24 :>D If you really like playing with the side buttons, open the set up and spray the contacts behind the buttons with Switch Cleaner (NOT WD40).

THe problem is in the set top box. Or common called the tuner box. IT looses the 5 volts to the main display and thus the monitor will go into a shut down state. THESE boxes are factory repair only and must be sent off to repair.

The TV needs to be connected to its tuner box in order for it to fire up properly. In fact, with the TV in standby (red light), by switching on the tuner box a control signal is sent up the cable and the TV switches on fully.

this is either a power problem or the screen needs re-gasing

Same problem with my Sony. Unplugging for 36 hours solved the problem
