Same problem with our Trinitron. Worked great until the moment it happened. TV was turned off after working fine. Trying to turn back on an hour later, we had a black screen, good audio and a blinking stand-by/timer light. Any advise would be helpful. Thanks.

+5 line is overloaded (AZ, BY, MZ boards) +5 line is shorted (AZ, BY, MZ boards)
IC504 is faulty (AZ Board)

This model has a common issue with failing DZ Board causing this fault indication. It is not a straight- forward swap, some wires will have to terminated onto to the board, the board itself costs around $170 to $200...

If taking to a serviceman try and get one familiar with Sony and aware of this problem, they should be able to quote for this repair...

Tv will not stay on standby timer light flashing

On Sony the standby or red is for shutdown---

If you unplug the set and plug it back and turn it on and it repeats this look to see if the light is either constantly blinking or blinking a specific number of blinks---specific number would be an error code.

The TV shut off by itself. Just before it went off, it said "timer off 0:00 press 09". Now when I push the power button the power light blinks and there is no picture.

sounds like somebody set the timer. normally this only makes the set enter standby mode and pressing the power button or a channel button usually wakes the set normally.
Just a longshot but have you tried pressing 09 while the light is blinking?

I pressed the sleep button by accident and the pic and sound went off and the stand by/timer red light started blinking. what does it mean?

Depends on how many times it blinks, just count the blinks Example: if it blink 2 times then pauses and blink 5 times then the code would be 25 and so on

Once you have this code, please post it.
