After switching on the device a picture of a tom tom sat nav comes on and a flashing white x with a rounded red background. This is as far as the switch on goes
Have exactly the same problem with a Go 720. It was working fine until I did a software upgrade. Trying reset makes no difference. I was told that a solution to the problem was to install the older version of the OS (i.e. the one that was there before the upgrade) but I cannot find this anywhere Have exactly the same problem with a Go 720. the problem it has is the software seems to either have a problem or the mapping itself is the problem, if you bought the device brand new from a shop like halfords, then you will have the TomTom 1 year warranty, but you need your reciept for it to be authorised. if you have done a back up of the device previously on tom tom home then you can format it and it may back up ok.
alternatively go into any Halfords or other store and speak to the specialists and they'll give you any info they can give.
If the maps are on an sd card you may be able to put tom tom on but as for updates myguide no longer exist and so don't provide updates. Mine still works fine and any roads that have been built that don't appear on the sat nav i have managed anyway.
Think I have sorted the problem out. I read some of your readers' solutions and it was mentioned that it may be advisable to log onto the GPS update. So, I installed my disc which came with the pack and followed the instructions to download the GPS update (and also took the opportunity to download other updates which took some time). Anyway, used the sat nav this morning and so far, it appears to be working normally now and the signal comes on in seconds!
Hi, I got round this problem by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for 15 seconds untill system reboots. Then reconnect mobile,if not delete mobile and repeat process.
Hi! A little more information may be of assistance! However I'll take a guess, is it a Tom Tom? or Evesham? have you used the correct charger for it? these Sat Nav's suffer badly with input voltage transistor/diodes blowing they are so small replacement is virtually impossible. There is a Guy on eBay repairs them for £80ish. Cheaper to buy new. Hope this helped. Press blue button if sorted please. Paul 'W' U.K.
Same problem with a 520 after software update. Reset makes no difference.
Same problem with brand new Go 720
