SOURCE: whiteout on fujifilm f20. how do I remove the lens?

Firstly, to isolate the shutter as the problem, turn the camera on and the flash off. put the lens into full optical (not digital) zoom. Then turn the camera lens to face you and look at the lens and take a picture.
With the camera in full optical zoom the shutter assembly will be right up to the outer lens so you can see it clearly. When the button is pressed you should see the shutter fire across the lens inside. It should cover the lens completely. If it does not or doesn't fire at all then you get over exposed pictures or lines across the photo. The most likely cause for this is moisture residue on the shutter leafs sticking them together.
To clean you will need to strip the lens down almost completely to access the shutter assembly. If this model of camera uses a sealed shutter unit then it will be impossible to clean. The only models i have found so far that use a sealed unit are the F460 and F470. Yours I am not sure of as I haven't opened 1 up but the solution for most is to strip it down and clean.
Tip: use another camera to photograph each stage to help on re assembly

When i take picture, the picture is white n some time become very very bright, but if take video is ok.

this can be usually associated with your white balance in still camera mode.
Check to see your white balance is set correctly or just set it to auto. Also make sure the mode you are in it set. (ie. indoor, outdoor, auto, speed)

My pict from s500 show white lines, but that is nothing problem when use to recorder/cam record & candleligt fiture.

Unfortunately the shutter motor is broken, so normal pictures will be over-exposed. If you use it as a recorder or candlelight function the shutter mechanism doesn't need to work because the shutter is always open.
Fix that problem is very difficult, unless you get a new lens block.
Hope this helps,

Konica Minolta Dimage E50 suddenly over expose. Indoor at night, the picture looks almost normal. Daytime the wall will be too white. Outdoor the picture is white out.

Hi!
The shutter cable inside the lens has broken - a common problem with the E50. The cable moves as the lens zoom so it brakes at some point and then camera isn't able to control the shutter - control the amount of light taken. If you look closely at the over exposed pictures, you will notice horizontal lines accross them.
The shutter or whole lens unit has to be changed. It is quite expensive, I believe it's not worth it. You can contact Sony / Konica - Minolta service center.
I work in a Sony / Konica - Minolta service center and have repaired a lot of these.

Hope this helps!

When i take pictures, sometimes they come out with lines all over them.

shutter problem. put camera into full optical zoom, turn it to face you and angle it so that you can see into the lens without reflection. In full zoom the internal lens is right up to the outer lens so, even on a small lens such as this, when you press the picture button you should see the shutter close across fully. If it does not you will get either an over exposed or complete white out picture. Or lines across your pictures.
The shutter needs to be cleaned. There is grease in the camera for the moving parts and is probable that this is the cause for the error.
I have found this to be the case for fuji's E900, E550, F40fd, F470, F460, and a few samsung's as well.

Pictures Becomes white (Excess Exposer or ISO)

I'm not clear about your last sentence. It sounds like you may have accidentally set the camera to use exposure compensation to over-expose the images. To reset this, see page 27 in your user manual. If you don't have the user manual you can download it here from Kodak. If you said in your last sentence that this is not the case, I apologize for not understanding you clearly.

If this is not the case, then the light meter in the camera may be malfunctioning, telling the camera that it doesn't have enough light.

1) Make sure the light sensor is clean. This is the lower of the 2 small light buttons on the front of the camera, to the left of the lens as you face the camera. If that doesn't help try:

2) Use a - setting in Exposure Compensation to under expose the images to compensate for the damaged light meter.

If neither of these help, then it needs to be sent in for repair, or replaced. (If the camera is out of warranty it is likely that the repair cost will exceed the value of the camera and you should simply buy a new camera.)

White pictures

Hi

Sounds like either your CCD is defective and it's not recording the image properly or your lens aperture is stuck open and is over exposing everything.

Either way it sounds like you need the lens repaired or replaced.

We are an affordable digital camera repair business, if we can get your lens it would be about $70 install it for you and ship the camera back.

Good luck from Darntoothysam com
