I live in South Africa, which is zone 2. my dvd rental shop has now got in region 1 but they won't play. help, its saturday night and no films! [email protected]
Report your Video shop to RiSA. They should legally only carry zone 2 DVD's as a rental copy and a sale copy has two different licenses of use. If they have zone 1 DVD's it means they are bypassing the local supply chain (ie getting it outside South Africa) and damaging the industry as a whole.
Update: You can SMS your video shop details to 32211 from within South Africa.
Keep in mind region codes is there for a reason. To ensure the revenue goes to the people who earned it legally. Although having a region 1 DVD in south africa may not be illegal, it is illegal for a video rental shop to rent out DVD's not obtained through the local legal channels.
