HD66 is having trouble receiving/decoding signals

My Comcast cable box failed about two weeks ago (endlessly cycle on boot up but not start). Box replaced but now my HD66 projector has problems receiving/decoding on all input signals except composite.

HDMI - will not sync
Component - will sync but the picture is washed out (green) and distorted; single green cable produces a sharp BW picture; connecting the blue and red create the problems
PC - same green blotchy patches

Cable box will drive another HDTV perfectly.

Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

SOURCE: No input detected on projector

it sounds like the A/V reciever does not upconvert the component signal to HDMI. Not many do. The Marantz recievers will (SR6001, SR8001, etc..). Also bear in mind that HDMI cables are finicky and may require amplification over a few meters long.

SOURCE: IN72 Projector problem

My understanding when we purchased our IN72 2 years ago is that there wasn't any additional benefit for Cable box using HDMI since the IN72 does not transmit audio so using component cables for cable was optimized enough. We have our DVD player connected via the HDMI only. Possibly the transmission from cable box through an HDMI is not compatible audio is confusing it? hard to say. Cable HD channels look awesome thru the compenent cables, the max for IN72 is 480i anyway.

We've got 35 ft cables for all 3 hdmi, compenent, and that vcr one too and it's worked great.

SOURCE: How to Hook up HDMI from Comcast Motarola Cable Box

Connect the HDMI outputs on your various components to the HDMI inputs on your receiver. Connect the HDMI output on the receiver to the input on your TV. HDMI incorporates digital audio, so no need to buy optical audio cables. If your receiver does not have HDMI inputs for all your components, you will need to make a choice. HDMI = Best, component video + optical audio = second best, S-video+ optical audio = third best

No signal to HDMI inputs

any chance it's a LG tv? It is common for the motherboards to go out, that is the board that has all the connections/inputs on it. I have actually fixed several by removing the board and putting it in the oven at 300 degrees for about 15 mins. I'm serious.

You probably have to rent a cable decoder box from your cable supplier. Comcast charges about 6.00 bucks plus the cable package about 40 bucks a month. Verizon charges about the same.

I am trying to setup my receiver with my TV and Comcast cable box using HDMI cables (TV-OUT and HDMI-1) but for some reason I don't get any sound from non-HD channels. Am I missing something?? I've read...

I'm thinking there might be a setting in the cable box that may be sending the wrong bit rate for PCM 2-channel audio but usually the receiver decodes that stuff fine. Just the same, I'd give Comcast a call.

I run the video from my cable box directly to the TV (HDMI) and the coaxial digital audio to my receiver so each one can do what it does best with the best possible un-modified source data.

Is it the DCT or the cable signal?

if you are getting signal of the proper strength and quality the cabling is good.the problem is the box trying to decode the signals.a lot of signals are encripted and have to be decoded by the box.if the box is not responding fast enough you will see bloches on the tv.if you see scrambled channel you are not payinfor that channel.and if you are paying for a channel and it comes up scrambled your box is not working correct.get your company to upgrade the box.

No Satelite Signal Indication

The "front end" of your Receiver might be defective. Since your other unit is working then what might be happening is the signal to your unit might be dropping, to check this I would use a Satellite power meter, however if you do not have one you can use your other unit and connect it to the cable that your supposed defective unit is connected to. If the unit works then the problem is the supposed defective unit, if the unit does not work then this denotes a possible cable problem. Tell me if this works for you?
