Have upgraded firmware ht-bd2 don't have remote to set language

Hi there, I have been given a Samsung HD-BT2 home theatre system by a friend (no home theatre remote though). I've plugged it into my Samsung LCD TV and it worked perfectly (I can use the Samsung TV remote to control the home theatre). I then upgraded the firmware of the HD-BT2 and now need to set the default language and can't seem to find a way to do it using the TV remote. Any help would be much appreciated!

SOURCE: I have a Samsung HT BD2 region 4, I go many region

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

Regards;

SOURCE: NEED TO UPGRADE MY HT-BD2 SYSTEM

There are two ways to approach this. You can either download the update from Samsung's support page, burn it onto a CD, place the CD into your Blu-Ray player and let the update load...or you can connect your Blu-Ray player to the internet and let the player download and install the update automatically.

For the first approach, the upgrade file can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149020&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=N&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200903/20090318095607437/081227_01_HT_BD2_XAA.zip

...and the instructions to installing the file on your system can be found here:

http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149021&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=C&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200901/20090109105847140/HT-BD2_System_Upgrade_by_CD_Method.pdf

The second approach is detailed in the HT-BD2 User's Manual (pages 46-49). It requires you to first plug a network cable into the back of your Blu-Ray home theater unit, then connect the other end into a LAN connection on your wall (or into the back of your cable/DSL modem) Page 26 of the user's manual shows you how to make the connection.

SOURCE: How can I connect my PS3 to the HT BD2 and get it

Use an optical cable and then it should work just fine. Just saw Avatar from my PS3 through the Samsung HT-BD2 and the sound was excellent.
So go and buy an optical cable :)
My problem is to get the BD2 to download updates. It doesn´t seem to work for me.

Region free code samsung

Unless you bought a DVD for multi-region(very difficult to find), most especially without the remote, you will not be able to change the region code. These firmware changes are generally uploaded by inserting a disc with the firmware on it. These units are manufactured this way with firmware(software) downloaded, or imbedded within the Microprocessor(computer or memory) and not be changed. Turning off and writing prot

It's not clear where you're seeing "protect" nor how you're connected to your TV so I have to make some assumptions.

The manual for the HT-BD2R wasn't available but the HT-BD2/HT-BD2S was...

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-HT-BD2-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/22986bh646/t/2/

Read the section of page 24 regarding HDCP and page 70 regarding Copy Protection.

If the unit is powering itself off...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

Blu-Ray disc does not play.

You need a software upgrade. If your blu-ray is lan connected you can upgrade from the blu-ray, just follow the menu. If you have no internet connection, use your PC. On the manufacturers web site find your model and download a firmware update to cd, then play this in your blu-ray, follow the on screen menu. Good luck
