Duet gas dryer only drys on timed

One thing you can do is clean the sensor strips located inside the dryer. Get some windex and clean the coating off them. Dryer sheets rub against the strips and form a barrier. The machine THINKS the clothes must be dry because it ain't SENSING dampness from wet cloths rubbing against them sensors.

Duet dryer on sensing mode>what does that mean

The "Sensing Mode" occurs when the dryer is trying to detecting the dampness of the clothes in the dryer to determine if they are dry or not.

If the dryer is "stuck" in sensing mode - there is a problem that should be checked.

The dryer runs and heats fine, but stops about 20 minutes prior to the end of the cycle leaving the clothes damp. IS this a heat sensor problem, and can I get a new sensor for a 12 year old model? Thank...

Easy fix. Get some windex and clean the sensors. Buildup from dryer sheets on them stops them from sensing dampness. When the dampness ain't sensed the control moves over to cooldown and off.

If their are no sensors on your model you need to swap out the heat control Klixon
themobilian_1310.jpg
Right below the duct fuse (small white) is that control.
themobilian_1311.jpg
4 wheel dryer control is here. Newer models use a thermistor
and it could very well be the problem.

It would not hurt to give it a good clean either

G.E. WHIRLPOOL DUET DRYER MOD.# GEW9200LW0 my grandma has this dryer and the problem where having is it will start, run, get hot but takes 2 hrs to dry, vents are clean, and i put my clothes in it and it...

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have not taken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then you need to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should take place. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causes for your dryer to fail.

Whirlpool duet dryer - when using the settings that automatically sense if the clothing is dry the dryer is saying the clothes are dry but the clothing is still damp

Easy fix: Look inside the drum below where the filter goes in. You will see two metal strips. They sense the wetness. Now get this: the dryer sheets rub against them and a thin wax buildup on them prevents the controls from properly determining wetness. The control has no clue the clothes are still damp and thinks everything is kosher; so it advances to the end. Solution. Clean the stuff off of the sensors so that they can sense the true wetness once again.

I have a Whirlpool Gas Dryer LGR6646BI-12 the clothes feel warm but not hot and they are still damp

The Dryness Level allows adjustment of how damp or dry the clothes are at the end of the cycle.
  1. Make sure the correct Cycle has been selected for the type of fabric being dried.
  2. If the correct cycle is selected and the clothes are still coming out too damp, use the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button to increase the Dryness level.

  1. If the highest Dryness Level setting was selected and the clothes are still damp, the Customer Focused Drying Mode settings that are built into the machine can be adjusted.
Dryers come from the factory set to Drying Mode 1 (default). Drying Modes 2 and 3, include additional drying time.
Note: This change will affect ALL Auto Dry cycles.
  1. Machine MUST be in Standby mode before beginning. (Standby mode = Plugged in, Power off)

  1. To select drying modes, momentarily press the Auto Dry Level button (Kenmore) or Dryness Level button (Whirlpool) again. The dryer will beep, and the display will flash and show the next drying mode number.
  1. With the door open and the display flashing the desired drying mode number, press the Start button to save the drying mode and exit diagnostics.
  1. Press the Pause/Cancel key at any time to cancel changes and exit from this mode.
Hope this works............

Hello, I have a whirlpool Duet dryer model number GEW-9200LQ0. The problem I am experiencing is when the dryer is turned on and you go to start either an automatic or manual cycle the sensing light turns...

You must have a bad thermistor. The program aint getting any signal from it and dont know the temp inside the dryer.
When you call for drying the control checks with the thermistor mounted on the blower housing inside the machine. The reading informs the control the ambient air temp. The dryer kicks in and does another check after a moment to see if everythang is kosher. If it determines dampness then it continues onward till the desired resistance reading indicating the clothes is all dry and she goes into cooldown no heat to allow the clothes to keep from wrinkling. You either have a bad thermistor a bad control or a bad connection between the 2. Look for Dan Webster youtube appliancejunk repair manuals and find your free manual i have in there. Thanks good luck.
