Hello My mhc gx8800 has just stopped playing cds.  It started to play the cd in it and then 30 seconds into the song it quit.  I have unplugged it and plugged it in again and no results but "NO DICS" blinking on the screen.  This is very frustrating!  I blew it out with canned air but it keeps acting as if it isn't detecting a cd.  PLEASE HELP Lance Philyaw

I just wanted to update.. I was able to fix the unit by taking it apart, cleaning the inside well with canned air, and then putting a couple of drops of machine oil into the motor itself.  Its been playing ever since I asked for help this time.. I would encourage others to get a few more years use out of their cd players by this simple trick.

So when I turn on my sony MHC-GX8800 shelf system, it stays on for a few seconds and then turns off. The power button flashes red as well

I had a extremely similar problem with that model the only difference is that it used to turn off whenever I put the volume up. Anyway there was a peace of stranded wire behind the speakers terminal block connector, so be sure to check it out.

Hi, am Mr.Varghese. I have LG dvd which is 1-2 yrs old. Problems are:- 1) DVD - not playing at all 2)VCD - Playing but stucks after 3-5 mins 3) MP3/Audio CD - Afer 1 song is over it restarts from the...

Hello Mr. Varghese,

Your LG dvd player's lens might need cleaning. It is having a hard time reading those cds that is why it sometimes skips or just stops in the middle of playing them. Does this happen also to new cd's? Sometimes cleaning those cds helps the lens reading them.

If you have a disk cleaner, you can run that for 30 seconds on your player. It that does not help, then you might need to open your DVD player's casing and clean the lens manually by opening your player, get a soft cotton earbud and damp in an alcohol and gently wipe your dvd's lens. Then try to return back everything and test playing cd.

Any experts out there?

Can air can put a film or sometimes dust on the laser. It will need cleaning by hand with soft cloth and alcohol.
