Slow blow (aka time delay) fuses are used in motor circuits. Electronic devices use normal or fast blow fuses

Fuse type for onkyo a-9555

The main power fuse for most amplifiers is a fast blow, 125 volt fuse for the US and a 250v fuse in countries with 220v. This unit is 125 watt so the main fuse should be 2 amps or so. The correct fuse size is written on the circuit board next to where the internal fuse was located.

Tx-8511 blows fuse when turned on. I used Radio shak 5-amp 125 volt replacement fuse. Turn on and it blows

Hi,
If the unit keeps blowing the fuse means you have a shored parts on it.
See my tips by clicking http://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing. This is also applicable to your unit. The only thing added to check is the stepdown Transformer for short, also the output IC.
Hope it may help you.
Thanks for using fixya.

Not receiving power

unless you have repaired circuit board assemblies in the past including replacement of board traces, there is little possibility of home repair here because ".... think i did smell something burning before". Sometimes the manufacturer will include an on-board fuse. You can open the case and look for this, but it may be too late. Fuses may never emit a burning smell even after they "burn", unless it is a slow-type and not encapsulated and you have a keen sense of smell. Sometimes the power section may include large power resistors; large because of the wattage they must dissipate. Look for one of these burnt and replace, but he actual burned part may be hard to find unless you have very good bench-testing tools and instruments. Bottom line is ...highly unlikely, "can i fix it on my own".

Onkyo tx-ds676 dead no power up

power down the amp totally to reset processor, then try again. If still no go, may have blown internal fuses- replace and try again
.... or failed thermal fuse in mains transformer. this is a workshop repair as it involves mains voltage that can kill :)

TV Blows internal fuse

You will have to find the source of a major short in your power supply.Since it's a 5A i assume i imagine that's where the short is.

Blown Fuse, needs fix'n

You CAN open the unit (keep in mind that even unpluged there is still voltage runing through the system, so.... dont fry) and you will notice, if the face of the unit is towards you you will see on the left hand side a power supply board, the fuse is on that board, and it is a tube fuse, 125V 8A. Most stores do not carry the 125V version anymore, but will carry a 250V. This is okay to use where the voltage is not the main purpose of the fuse.
