There is a short somewhere. check the fuse. replace if defective. reset timer. if trouble persists, replace magnetron. or replace unit if cheaper.

HAD SAME ISSUE 6 YEARS AGO.

ITS A MAJOR PART AND ITS NOT SAFE IN THAT STATE.

IT JUST SLIPS MY MIND AS TO WHAT IT IS CALLED.

UNPLUG IT.

CALL A REPAIR SHOP.

TELL THEM WHAT HAPPENED, TELL THEM TO QUOTE A PRICE.

KEEP IN MIND THAT A NEW MICROWAVE IS PRETTY CHEAP THESE DAYS.

Since the unit makes the noise on Microwave but not convection it is a problem it he Microwave Circuit. Probably in either the rectifier of bad mag, one of them shorted. Just looked at the date you posted this, Im sure you have fixed or replaced this by now

Microwave # plmvz169gc made a crack / snap sound last night and does not heat anymore and makes a motor noise. The plate does turn.
magnatron has bvurnt out and is possibly cheaper to purchase a new unit rather than repair the exsisting one

In all likelihood the mangnetron has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

very possible your magnatron is faulty. Disconnect 2 transformer wires and make sure they dont short. try the program again. if no noise, replace magnatron:capacitor and HV diode Please i strongly suggest an electrician help you as it is truely dangerous in there. .
