HOW DO I GET MY COMPUTER TO RECOGNIZE MY COBY MP3 PLAYER, MODEL # MP-C7095.

  • bonjovie Dec 28, 2008

XP doesn't recognise my COBY C7095 as a USB drive. It keeps asking me to start Windize Media Player instead of listing it as a drive in Windoze Explorer.

This MP3 player is a piece of ****. BTW play time is only 2 hours at most on a charge.

I called COBY with my battery problem and my XP problem and I was told there is nothing they can do, it is how the product is designed.

    Their service is **** too.

Maybe, your player has the same letter than the other one. Try it on an another computer, bacup all your files on and format it with an another letter.

SOURCE: computer does not recognize usb device

Go into the settings menu, from there, go into usb mode...there are two settings: mtp & msc... my player was using mtp and wasn't being recognized, so I switched it to msc, and the computer recognized it.

SOURCE: coby mp3 mp-605-4g is not recognized by any computers

This solution only relates to the Windows Operating System.
You have to plug it in to a USB port preferably one at back off computer and you must have Administrative privileges because a normal user can't access system settings. Now right click on the "My Computer" icon. Next click "Properties", then "Hardware" and finally "Device Manager". Once in "Device Manager" scroll down to "Other Devices". Right click on the icon with the yellow exclamation mark or question mark. Then click "Update Driver". This should pop up a "Hardware Update Wizard" window. Instead of clicking "Install The Software Automatically" click the "Install From A List Or Specific Location". Hit "Next", then click "Don't Search. I Will Choose The Driver To Install". After mark sure "Show All Devices" is highlighted which it should be, click "Next". Now finally click something along the lines of USB Media Player or around that. Ok click "Next" once again and wait a little while. What this is doing is installing the driver(s) for your device. Your done click "Finish" to exit.
If your MP3/4 player still isn't seen by Windows it could be your computer or your device's "Firmware". Usually this solution is successful since I use it for any device that is not read by PC.
I know my iMac with Mac OS 9.2 reads this MP3 player fine.
Anyways if you can't fix the device this way then I don't know what else to say.
Like I said though sometimes it might be the drivers for your device.
I hope this helps anyone who needs it.

Coby mp3 player

Try to reset it if possible.
If the computer charges it then the computer recognizes it as a connected device. That's how usb works. It could be you need a new USB cable. Many devices that use USB for charging do not have the data leads connected in their cables. This is called a "vampire" connection as it only sucks 5 volts DC from the computer/charger .

Computer does not acknowlege the hardware MP3 coby 610-4G

I can help you with your Coby 610 mp3 player.

Usually, a firmware upgrade / replacement will allow your computer to see your mp3 player again.

Following these instructions for fixing your Coby Mp-610 MP3 Player will replace the internal programming of your mp3 player, and allow your computer to recognize it.

I hope that helps.

I can't get my computer to recognize the Coby MP610-4G when I plug it in. Therefore, I can't transfer any music to it through windows media.

Does your Coby MP610 act normally, other than your computer won't recognize it? Have you tried plugging it in to a different USB port on the same computer, or into a different computer?

I use a different MP3 player myself, but I have revived it and my Sony-Ericsson cell phone by upgrading their firmware. Neither device was being recognized by the computer until I reflashed the firmware, and in both cases reflashing fixed them.

If you want to try reflashing your Copy MP610, I just posted the steps as a Tip on the Fixya website.

I hope that helps.

Coby MP705 not being recognized by computer.

You need to plug it into a USB 2.0 port. The 1.0 (or 1.1) standard does NOT work.
