Uniden TRU 8888Handset Reset (De-Register): 1. Remove Battery. 2. Reconnect battery while holding down "*" and "#" key. 3. Then press the right upper soft key under the LCD. 4. Press the "End" key. 5. Phone will be ready to register to the base.
This was the stranges resolve but it worked, Thank you
This solution worked but with a few modifications for the TCX800 handset. You need to press the upper right key next to the display right after you plug in the Batt. Hold for 15 seconds then release all buttons and press all buttons again and hold for 5 secs. Release then press upper right button again by ityself. Check the EEPROM is erased. It weill say OK. Press end and it will reboot and then ask to be registered. Place in base unit and it will register.
YOU MAY NOT NEED TO ERASE THE MEMORY!
On the Uniden DECT 1560 - *Look* at the option *under* DeRegister Handset - for "Base Unavailable"
Choose that if you cannot communicate with the base. I didn't see the option and erased the memory on a handset I didn't need to.
Sorry, I wasn't clear in my question. I have two TCX905's that are still registered on their old system, which is in Calif. ( I'm in North Carolina).. How can I deregister them so I can put them into my system, which is a TRU8485-2S.
I successfully reset uniden TCX800 handset by reconnecting the battery while holding the '*' and '#' key, then press the right upper soft key near LCD.

This works with Radio Shack's 5.8 GHz digital handset #43-5561 too! I was about to return the handset to the store because it wouldn't register with my previously purchased base station. Looks like the unit I bought on sale was a "return" that was never deregistered from its previous base station. As such, it would deregister or register to my base unit. This reset process worked. The display showed "EEPROM/RAM CLEARED!!" and then it went back to its factory default condition (asking to be registered to the base). Thanks FixYa and jho1668 for this tip!!!!
