Brother DCP 7030 is showing continoue"Toner Life end"

  • Anonymous Apr 23, 2013

why toner life end message keep on showing on sp 1200s prints. Company purposely not giving some rolling instrument with toner/drum, so that once toner over, message would be display like toner life over" and customer change the drup and toner fully. that is the profile of company, so don't buy SP 1200s printer since company making full to people.

I know an easier way. OPen the door to the toners. Press the button called CLR/Back and a menu will open on the display. Choose the color and capacity eg Magenta=H meaning the magenta toner in HIGh capacity or L for low capaity. The press reset counter and then its reset.

What does "End drum life soon" mean? Is the drum different than the toner cartridge? Can it be repaired, rebuilt or reprogrammed?

My Brother DCP 7020 printer is used at home so I may print a few sheets on it once or twice a month. I've had the printer for two years now it says Toner Life End. I seriously doubt I've used up all the toner. There is pleanty of toner left inside the cartridge. I refuse to buy another toner cartridge at $70 a pop. Isn't there a way to bypas this message so I can print?

I got the “toner end life” message on my Brother DCP 7020 printer-copier-scanner. I reset the white tab on the end of the cartridge and the message went away and the machine worked again! Here’s a little more detail on locating and resetting the tab. The white tab sits in a half-circle channel molded in one of the black plastic end caps on the cartridge. To reset it you have to unscrew three phillips head screws and pull the end cap away from the cartridge exposing a set of white plastic gears. The white tab is part of a larger plastic piece which has a short geared section. All of the other gears are attached to the body of the cartridge and do not come loose when the cap is taken off. The tab/gear piece, however, pivots on a post molded into the inside of the cap, and can be freely slid on and off this post. Once the cap is off it is easy to reposition the piece on the post, so the tab is at the opposite end of the circular channel. Holding the tab piece in this position put the end cap back on the end of the cartridge and its geared part meshes with the other gears. Screw the three screws back in, put the cartridge back in the machine, turn it on, and if your problem was my problem, it should be solved. None of the other solutions mentioned above worked for me. I can also confirm, as mentioned above, that the starter cartridge that came with the machine does not have the white tab piece, but does have the channel for it, apparently to make it impossible to add toner to the original cartridge.

Toner life end

On my 7020 there is no keypad. I remebered a fix done months before and it works! Take out the toner cartridge and on the left side there is a white tab connected to a half round gear. This has to be reset to the forward direction. To do this remove the 3 screws holding the side cover, Pull up the cover and move the tab almost 180 degrees rotate forward, re-assemble and it will work!

If you are using non brother toner then that's the problem, if not it is the drum unit.
