Need head for older homelite trimmer. ut 200. what do I buy? want line already on head. is a curved shaft (gas) and at least three years old if not more.

Funny I picked up one today...for $20. It too is missing the wall charger...it I find one I'll let you the source, meanwhile the voltage is 6. Hope this helps. I'll keep you posted Re: the charger..

The spark plug gap should be set at .025 to .030 inches for trimmers. Try to set gap closer to .025.

Try some carb. cleaner/ starter fluid on that spark plug right before you try to crank it. If that does it
replace your spark plug.

I see that this is an older model electric trimmer. The correct model number is HLT800A. Parts for electric models are difficult to find (online). Most service centers refuse to work on them and they say it is not cost effective. They basically just issue warranty replacements. Even Searsparts direct that has parts for most makes and models only lists gas models for Homelite.So, if you can get the old head off (or even if not); take it to the Home Depot garden center and there you will find a vast array of different string heads that may or may not fit this model. I know that most of them are for the gas machines. You may even find a new electric model on sale there that suits your fancy. I have been unable to find any spare parts listed for this model.

So, is this trimmer suppose to feed the string automatically? If not, then it sounds like the string is wound up on the spool the wrong direction.

Genarally the size of line for that size of line trimmer is 2.0mm

Go to homelite.com then click on service and support, then click order parts then click launch homelite parts catalog, Agree to terms then click continue under model no type in mightylite then find you trimmer in list.

I had this same problem, would run a couple of seconds, stop, and you couldn't start it again.
Had good gas/oil mix 50:1 and 25cc Homelite. Had replaced the fuel filter, gas, spark plug, and took carb apart and cleaned with carb cleaner and primer bulb worked fine. None of that fixed it. What did? Take the muffler off and see if it will start and run with the muffler off. If it does, chances are the muffler is clogged. Also check the exhaust ports and clean them out if plugged with black oil carbon residue.
My muffler was clogged up, took it off, cleaned out the exhaust ports, there was some oil that was in the muffler(oil that didn't burn during combustion). It now starts and runs like a champ on first or second pull.
