What controls the condenser fan?

My condenser fan starts with either compressor as it should but does not seem to shut off very often. (I have cleaned the condenser with compressed air and confirmed it is very clean.) What signal or setpoint actually shuts the fan off? Does the control board look for a specific temperature, pressure, or just have an off delay timer?

Your condenser fan motor should run any time the unit is calling for cooling, if the compressor is running, the condenser fan should also be running.
Hope this helps....GOD BLESS....Randy....

SOURCE: GE Fridge intermittent

I had the exact problem with my GSL25JFRFBS. It turned out to be a bad control board. The service technician that replaced the board said that the lights dimming on the on the ice/water dispenser is a direct indication of the control board being bad. This cost me $303.53 and my refridgerator is only a little over 2 years old. You can buy a new control board - WR55X10656 from GE online for a little over $157.00. From what I've found, this is an inherit issue with this model.

SOURCE: Fan / Compressor runs constantly

Condenser fans (the fan next to the compressor) do run all of the time. That is normal.

Chiller power pack controlled by ranco temp control won't shut down compressor once it reaches set temperature just runs and runs and runs

There are a few potential reasons why your chiller may not be shutting down even when it reaches the set temperature:
  1. Faulty temperature control: If the Ranco temperature control is faulty, it may not be sending the correct signal to shut off the compressor and fan. Try replacing the temperature control to see if this resolves the issue.
  2. Incorrect wiring: Make sure that the compressor and fan motor are wired correctly through the Ranco temperature control. If the wiring is incorrect, the temperature control may not be able to properly control the chiller.
  3. Dirty condenser coil: A dirty condenser coil can cause the chiller to run constantly as it struggles to cool the refrigerant. Check the condenser coil and clean it if necessary.
  4. Low refrigerant charge: If the chiller is low on refrigerant, it may run constantly as it tries to maintain the set temperature. Have a technician check the refrigerant level and add more if necessary.
  5. Faulty compressor: A faulty compressor may continue to run even when the set temperature is reached. Have a technician check the compressor to see if it needs to be repaired or replaced.

Hello, i have an LG portable air conditioner Model number L1111WXRY1 The fan on it works fine but the condenser seems to keep shutting off every minute and stays off for a while, mind you thr fan still...

It seems like it's short cycling. The condensor motor runs when the compressor runs,
Probable cause, no airflow thru the condenser, low on refrigerant, wrong location of temperature sensor,

Ice machince is going max freeze cycle shut down

1. Possible cause. Water leak. Check purge valve, water curtain, sump, sump hose.
2. Air filters clogged. Clean air filters.
3. Dirty condenser. Clean condenser.
4. Restricted location, intake air to hot. Have machine moved.
5. Ice thickness sensor dirty or disconnected. Check ice thickness sensor probe.
6. Water distributor dirty. Remove and clean water distributor.
7. Inlet water valve leaks through during freeze cycle. Check water inlet valve.
8. Connected to hot water. Check for bleed through from missing check valve in building water supply.
9. Incomplete harvest. Check harvest system.
10.High pressure cut out opened. Check fan motor pressure control, check fan motor, check controller using test mode.
11. Fan motor pressure control open. Check fan pressure control.
12. Fan motor not turning. Check fan motor, check fan blade, check controller using test mode.
13.Water pump not pumping. Check pump motor, check controller using test mode.
14. Pump hose disconnected. Check hose.
15. Compressor not operating. check compressor contactor, check controller using test mode.
Check compressor start components, check PTCR resistance and temperature, check compressor voltage, check compressor windings.
16. Low refrigerant charge. Add some refrigerant and restart unit. If cycle time imporves, look for a leak.
17. Hot gas valve leaks through during freeze. Check hot gas valve for hot outlet during freeze.
18. Thermostatic expansion valve bulb loose. Check bulb.
19. Thermostatic expansion valve producing very low or high superheat. Check evaporator superheat, Change TXV if incorrect.
20. Compressor inefficent. Check compressor amp draw, if low and all else is correcy, change compressor.

Getting very hot in the middle betweenthe fridge and freezer

The condenser fan located on the bottom near the compressor is not circulating well enough to keep the compressor at a good operating temperature causing the compressor to shut down for longer periods of time until cool enough to run again. Clean the coils good and replace condenser fan and you will be fine. The fan works as a cooler for the compressor. Imagine working in the yard on a hot day wearing a mask over your nose and mouth. Your body shuts down quicker because you have to take more rest due to the restriction of fresh air. Same applies to the compressor. Hope this helps. Rick

Dirty condenser, condenser fan motor is not running. Clean condenser and check condenser fan motor.

Freezer fan runs for hours

When compressor cycles off, your freezer fan should shut off as well !

Freezer fan should not be spinning while compressor off.

You might need a control board replacement, that controls fan.

If you are talking about compressor run time, that is a bit excessive, usual causes are dirty condensers but you say they are clean - are your condensers at the bottom of the unit ? If so make sure the condenser fan next to the compressor is running too, blowing air ont he condenser.

A/c condenser not going on

It may be caused by a bad capacitor, causing the compressor to pull too many amps on startup, tripping your breaker.

Maytag msd2652keu side by side compressor gets hot shuts off and unthaws freezer i unplug 4 a few hours plug in and works 4 a couple weeks any idea

Check to make sure condenser fan is working (this is the fan located near the compressor). It should be running at the same time the compressor is running. If it isn't, make sure there is power to it by testing with a voltmeter. If there is, replace the fan. If the condenser fan is working, clean the coils and check the evap fan.

Rudd 2 ton 10 S

The small copper line should not be really hot its supposed to be carrying liquid refrigerant which has already had the heat "pressed" out of it by the compressor and carried of by the air flowing over the condenser coil. This could indicate a few things; that your unit is overcharged, you have a mismatched evaporator coil and condenser, an ineffective condenser fan motor or a clogged condenser coil and as a result your compressor is shutting of due to an overload condition from the building heat and back pressure between the compressor outlet and the evaporator inlet.

First make sure your condenser is clean and that adequate air is flowing over the fins of the condenser coil. Then be sure your equipment is a matched system. A indication that your condenser fan motor is not at speed is slow starting a humming sound and excessive heat. In my experience this complaint is generally the result of a bad condenser fan motor that over heats and shuts of after a short period and the build up of heat in the liquid refrigerant line of course trips the compressor overload circuit- which by the way usually takes hours to reset. I hope you've already resolved this, but in case you haven't......
