Registering & Syncing Ipod Nano 3G

I already have a 2G nano registered and working fine. I have just bought a new 3G model and am having difficulty in getting my computer to recognise it when connected.

I connect the Nano to the computer with the USB. ITunes opens and shows that the device is present but wont do any more than that.

the instructions say "In iTunes (with iPod nano connected to your computer), select iPod nano in the source list (but I don't get a source list showing) and click the settings tab". (but I don't see a settings tab)!

I don't get the option to register with the devices serial number as I did with my 2G installation!

Help please.

Unlock

Unlock an iPod Model A1199
Although the second generation iPod Nano (also known as 2G) uses a four-digit pass code that prevents unauthorized access to your iPod by locking the screen, you can also unlock the device by plugging it into your computer's USB 2.0 port.
When the 2G iPod Nano is connected to the computer it is synchronized, and automatically unlocks the screen according to the official Apple site.
In order to successfully unlock the Nano it must be plugged into the primary computer used for synchronizing content.

Click "Start," "All Programs" and "iTunes" on your PC's desktop, or click "iTunes" on the Macintosh's desktop dock.
Plug the iPod Nano's cable into the docking port on the iPod Nano.
Plug the other end into the USB port on the computer to open iTunes.
Click "Controls" at the top of the iTunes' menu, and select "Eject iPod."
The iPod Nano's screen will be unlocked once it is ejected from your computer.

Unlock an iPod Nano Code
With the latest iPod Nano model, you can set a four-digit code and lock all intruders from accessing your iPod.
In order to use the device's functions again, you need to enter the correct code.
However, if you happen to lose or forget the code, you will need to find another way to unlock your iPod Nano.

Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Nano.
Plug the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer.
Open the iTunes program by using the Dock on a Mac or the Start menu on a PC.
Select your iPod Nano from the "Devices" list in the main iTunes window.
Click on the "Sync" button to make a connection between your computer and your iPod Nano.
Click on the "Eject" symbol once the syncing process is complete.
Remove your iPod Nano from the USB cable.
The iPod's lock code will now be reset and you will be able to access all features again.
Navigate to the "Screen Lock" option in the iPod menu to lock your iPod's screen again.
Since your iPod's lock code was just reset, you will be prompted to select a new four-digit code.

    When I plug in my Ipod to the inMotion im310 portable speaker the Ipod screen says it is not supported, and it worked this morning.

    Check the pins on the speaker and on the plugin on the iPod, that's the problem usually. Also, check if the iPod is truly compatible, even if it worked before it may not be. I have seen car chargers for say a 2G iPhone work for a bit then say incompatible, it happens. Here are the compatible iPods for the iM310:

    Plays and charges
    iPod mini;
    iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G;
    iPod classic 3G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G;
    iPod touch 1G, 2G

    Good luck!

    How can I use JVC AVX810 with Iphone? Currently IPOD works fine with the USB cable but IPHONE is not recognised. Maybe there is an adaptor that can solve it?

    JVC KS-PD100 iPod Interface Adapter (257KSPD100, sold separately). This optional iPod Interface Adapter supports audio playback for the following iPod models - iPod click-wheel (3rd gen), iPod photo (4th gen), iPod mini (1st/2nd gen), iPod nano (1st/2nd/3rd/4th gen), iPod video (5th gen), and iPod classic (80/120/160GB). The KS-PD100 is not compatible with the iPod touch (1st/2nd/3rd gen), iPod nano (5th gen), or iPhone (2G/3G/3GS). This iPod interface will also not charge the iPod nano (4th generation). *Apple firmware updates may change functionality results.

    Getting music directly off Ipod nano 2gig

    When you plug the iPod into the computer, a window may or may not pop up, depending on what you told Windows to do with the player the first time you connected it. If the window does not pop up automatically, double-click My Computer, double-click the icon of the iPod, and you should see a folder that says Music. If this folder is missing, that may explain your symptoms. Right click a blank area of the Nano window, and select New --> Folder --> and create a folder named "Music". Try syncing again, and see if it works.

    Problem with ihome and ipod nano.

    yes, unfortunately the ihome iH9 is not compatible with previous models of the ipod nano.

    if you want a similar device, there are many other docking stations for the ipod that are ip0 that ARE compatible with the ipod nano 2G

    iH85B is another ihome dock which is compatible with all ipods after the ipod mini (including the ipod nano 2G)

    Jensen vm9412 and ipod classic

    The newer generation iPods don't always work with the iPod connection kits in a lot of the car stereos. Some of the problem is due to the fact that the new generation iPods have been changed and the stereos were manufactured before the players were released so they are not compatible.
    I bought my girlfriend a Pioneer car stereo with an iPod control cable, and it works fine with her Nano (not the new generation Nano) and it works with my iPod Photo 60 GB but it does not work with my iPhone 2G and I read that it is not compatible with the new Nanos or the Classics. Check with Jensen to see if the model you have is compatible with the Classic and see if there is a solution to the issue. It may not be compatible with the new video portion of the Classic firmware.

    Cheers
