Intel Pro/100 and PRO/1000 Network Driver. This is the driver you need for this model. You can download it right from the emachines web site.

SIIG (JU-P50212) USB 2.0 Network Adapter

If you did a fresh install of Windows 7, make sure you install Windows 7 SP1.

A lot of Windows 7 drivers were not included in the original release.
http://windows.microsoft.com/installwindows7sp1

The manufacturer does not list a specific driver for this card( although it does list it as being Windows 7 compatable) so likely you will find it by updating Windows 7.

Can't install wireless network adaptor on emachines 5260. I used to connect to the internet using the wireless adaptor until I re-installed the windows xp operating system due to other problems, and...

Your machine was difficult to track down. As far as I can tell, the 5260 is the Intel motherboard. Below is a link to a page where you can individually download the drivers you require. Best of luck!

Hello no1sugard, go to this "Website," and "Download the Updates" for Windows XP
(Service Pack 3)."
  • First make sure that you have [SP1 and SP2] already installed in your Computer?
  • To {check} which "Service Pack" you have already?
  • If not?
  • Then you must "Download SP1 and SP2 first!"
  • Open "the Computer Properties," by [Alt / Right] clicking on the Computer in the 'shortcut menu' of the "Start Menu."
If this information helped? Return and give a "Helpful Rating," please!

I had a working Dell computer - accessing the internet through a wireless router - computer became unbearably slow - re-installed Windows XP 2002 SP1 everything's fine except the network adapter that was...

You don't say what make/model of network adapter (NIC), whether it's wired or wireless, or if it was operating under the same service pack level before, so I have to make a lot of assumptions.

Is Windows really not recognizing it (ie: does it have an exclamation mark next to the NIC in device manager?) or is it being recognized by Windows but just cannot connect to the wireless router? If the latter, check your wireless configuration (SSID, WPA key, etc). Since you have WinXP SP1, it could be that there is not a driver for that particular NIC. Later service packs include updated drivers as well as bug and security fixes. Recommend you identify the NIC and if you have the driver disk for it, go into Windows device manager to select a reinstall from that disk. If you don't have it, use another computer to download its driver and after installing it and getting Internet access, you should also download and install the latest SP, which would be SP3.

Hi am just installed windows xp on my computer on

Typically doing a custom windows update for hardware can help you find your missing drivers. The difficulty we have at this stage is helping you get to that point since you are missing your network card drivers.

Have you downloaded the motherboard driver package? Sometimes the driver can be found in there.

If all else fails you can buy an plug and play usb to ethernet adapter and then do your custom window's updates.

Should be less than $20 and may be worth the relief from frustration.

hope this helps

I have a 54g MaxPerformance 802.11g adapter which came with my compaq presario. My wireless network worked with WEP but won't with this computer using WPA2. I think I need to update the driver. Which one...

I do not believe that updating the driver for your network card will solve the problem, although you should always install the newest one for best operation. You can go to Compaq's support page here and see if there is an update available for your model.

If WEP worked for you and WPA doesn't, then it is an encryption problem. Encryption happens on a different layer than the driver, which simply makes your Operating System work with your hardware.

If you are running Windows XP SP1 or SP2, update the operating system to XP Service Pack 3 for best WPA/WPA2 support.

XP Service Pack 1 computers do not support WPA by default and cannot support WPA2. To upgrade an XP SP1 computer to support WPA (but not WPA2), either
  • install the "Windows XP Support Patch for Wi-Fi Protected Access" (link) from Microsoft, or
  • upgrade the computer to XP SP2
XP Service Pack 2 computers by default support WPA but not WPA2. To upgrade an XP SP2 computer to also support WPA2, install the "Wireless Client Update for Windows XP SP2" (link) from Microsoft.

If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.
