Documents won't print. When we try to scan the printer says that the computer is disconnected or we need to install the Hp software. We've used it before and it worked fine. The computer just won't recognize it all of the sudden. We've unplugged and replugged the cords and still nothing.

I suggest you Google HP Support for the country you are in. You can download software and contact HP if required.

Have you considered installing the scan tools on the other computers? Print sharing is a function of windows; assuming that the printer is not a true network printer. Windows does not have the ability to share scanners. But this is where the software can scan the network and find a HP scanner. Also some scanners can perform a "scan-to" function; but I believe the software need to be installed on the destination computers for this to work as well.

Hp photosmart C7250 hangs while printing

Hi Georgette,

You have tried your best with possible troubleshooting to fix the issue. There are few possible workaround solution for this issue.

First, If the USB Cable is more than 3-5 ft long, it could be the reason. Also, if the USB Cable is worn out or is broken in-between.

2nd, The printer does not seems to accept command from PC ( win 7 ) using the HP Software. So Uninstall the Software. Restart the PC.

Do not install Printer Software. Connect the Printer USB to PC and Windows 7 will display new hardware detected message.

Continue with the New Hardware Found Wizard and install the drivers it will list by Default.

Try to print and it should work.

If this works, You will be able to print without any problems however if you want to scan a document, you need to use Applications like MS-Paint, Microsoft Word etc, or Use the Scanners and Camera option in Control panel.

You can then install the software disk of printer or the downloaded software from Hp website to install Printer software for SCanning.

If you do so, you will find 2 printer icons in Printers Folder. First one will be with WSD text ( this icon is created when you connect the printer using USB without installing the printer software ) and 2nd icon will be HP Photosmart C7200 All in One ( this will be the Software installed ) and this will be default icon with check mark.

Whenever you want to print from any application, You need to click on File - Print - choose the WSD icon to print.

Why won't my printer scan a document to my laptop?

Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your laptop. The software is available only on the installation disc that came with your printer. If you still haven't installed the software on your computer and you don't have the installation disc, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center to request for one.
If you were able to scan documents before using your Lexmark printer, it could be just a slight communication issue. A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

My printer is printing but i cant scan my documents - no compatible printer installed

Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software (used to scan documents, convert into PDF file or create multiple pages into 1 file). The software is available on the installation disc that came with the printer.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer. Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection.

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

1. Disconnect the printer from your computer.

2. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.

3. Delete the Lexmark print object.

4. Reboot your pc.

5. When your pc turns on, reconnect the printer.

6. Wait until your pc fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, then try to scan a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Should you still need assistance, please leave a comment to my response and I'll get back to you. Should this resolve your problem, your rating will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Scan wont work on mac psc 1410v

First are you trying to scan using the scan button on the all-in-one or from the computer? If you are trying to use the scan buttons, you need to install the HP full-feature software package: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=458978#N193 . (If you need to expand the section marked drivers.) Uninstall the printer and disconnect the data cable before installing this full software.

If you installed the basic drivers that came with the Mac OS, you can scan using Apple Preview and Image Capture software. You can also acquire a scan from the Print & Fax > Printer browser. Open the software from the dock or from the Applications folder. In Apple Preview, choose File > Import from Scanner. In the Image Capture program select the all-in-one from the list of devices.

For the Print and Scan. Open System Preferences from the Apple Menu. Click Print & Fax and select the all-in-one. Click the Scan tab and Open Scanner. Then click Scan.

With the HP software you can launch a scan from the computer or from the scanner (but only if the monitoring program is running). You need to set up the HP Utility for the scan task manager.
This site has the full set of steps: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02456650&tmp_task=useCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=458978#N2158 .

Sometimes an all-in-one will work for printing but not for scanning due to a damaged cable. Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the printer. Try replacing the data cable. If you use a USB hub or print server, try a direct connection to the computer.

I hope this helps.

Unable to Scan documents

If the software is installed correctly it should scan from the scanner, otherwise i would suggest using the scan button on the software screen. Make sure all your drivers are up to date!
