Probably. Look for a replacement battery on eBay. I have threee d600s and about a year ago I bought aftermarket batteries on eBay that work fine for about 1/3 the cost of a genuine Dell.

I am having the same problem is it possible to operate the laptop without the battery in place? Can't seem to find an answer to this, my charging light blinks a few times and then the laptop shuts off, any help would be appreciated

I would say its defective. Bring it back to where you bought it and show them. Bring your laptop charger also so you can show them it in action. Hope this helped.
