My blackberry pearl turned itself off and when I tried turning it on all I get is an hourglass

You have not indicated if the blackberry will run when absent a battery it is plugged into a charger. If it does, that suggests a battery problem and you simply need to replace the battery. If a red light blinks on the blackberry when you try the above, try a hard reset. But before that, try the below.

Push and hold the call button and alternate with the end call button until the hourglass shows. Allow some time to boot up.

Have you tried connecting it to your pc via the USB cable and launching the Desktop Manager application? If the desktop manager can see it, you may be able to replace the operating system and get it going again. Try contacting your service provider for assistance. They should have several options to try and get it going again for you.

Hi it is because the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone cannot initialize the BlackBerry Device Software or there is a corrupt operating system file.
To resolve this issue, reload the BlackBerry Device Software on the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 smartphone.
To perform an installation of the BlackBerry Device Software using BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.5 to 5.0, perform the following steps:
1) Open BlackBerry Desktop Manager. 2) Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. 3) Double-click Application Loader.
4) Click Start under Update Software to start the installation process.
5) Type your BlackBerry smartphone password, if prompted, and click OK.
6) Select Options under Device Software Options.
7) Select the check boxes next to the names of the applications to be loaded, and then click Next.
8) Click OK > Next > Finish.
9) When the process has completed, the message The loading operation was successful will appear.
10) Click Close to return to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

you can do one thing that is take a backup of your data and wipe out your hand set once,and restore the backup and try again

I would download the latest Blackberry OS from Blackberry.com and install it via the Desktop Manager. You can get the latest OS from this URL:

You can find the model by removing the battery and it should be on a sticker.

Check ur Free Mem maybe to many Apps/Games/Themes installed ?

There might be some issue with the BlackBerry Device Software associated with the BlackBerry smartphone so Upgrade the BlackBerry smartphone with a newer version of BlackBerry Device Software and make sure that you have taken a backup before upgrading.

BEFORE ANYTHING !!!! use the desktop software to backup your data on the BB (if you can) and save the file to the desktop. next go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code=577BCC914F9E55D5E4E4F82F9F00E7D4you need to download (use pull down menu)blackberry desktop software 4.6 and the blackberry pearl 8110 smartphone. install the desktop software first then the device software.. this can take maybe an hour (not including the download time)
