Ok, i took my brothers phone when he got a new one and it was a samsung blackjack, well i put my SIM card in it and the message "error 0" came up and said that the SIM card is either missing or is not valid. Whats wrong and is there any way i can fix this without ordering a new SIM card? Or is there some code or something that i can unlock it with?
If he used it for the same carrier you are on (ie: sprint, AT&T, verizon, etc..) then it may just be a different format SIM card. Over my past 3 phones, I have had to change sim cards twice. Good thing is, usually the carrier doesn't charge for this. For example, if I took the sim out of my current LG g6, and tried to put it in my old galaxy note 3, it wouldn't work, I would have to get one of the older style SIM cards.
On the other hand, sometimes you won't be able to take a phone from one carrier to another, even if it is unlocked. It all depends on the cellular technology that the phone supports.
Hope this helps.
SOURCE: No service
go to start
go to settings
go to more
then go to security
it should say device lock then under that it will say enable or disable sim lock if it says disable click that and type in 1234 then click done
that worked for mine

I just purchased a brand new 3G sim card and the phone says that there is no sim card all together when I turn it on. Could this just be a phone defect or what?

i dont know if this will work but tyou can try to do a master reset.
1. turn phone off
2. remove memory and sim cards
3. push and hold up button and turn phone on while holding.
4. it will ask if you want to reset. yes.
if this does not work then the display is probably bad.
let me know if this works by posting a reply.

I had the same problem and I just got it fixed today. You need to backup anything you have on your phone then reset the whole thing. Here isthe link: http://www.wireless.att.com/support/tuto...
Hope this fixes your problem, so far it has fixed mine.

Well if you have ever took a part the phone maybe the sim card has slipped down a little bit , if not maybe the sim card has been blocked or cancelled .
