The scanner glass inside is cloudy

I recommend you do not take off the glass. I have done it and was never able to get rid of the dust, which really shows up on every scan. The fogging has something to do with an optical coating on the underside of the glass. If I knew then what I know now, I would let it be. If the fogging doesn't show up in scans, leave it. If it really does show up, the glass itself is often held down by simple double stick tape. You try to keep the tape intact so you can put it back down. It may be strong enough that the plastic frame on top of it could snap. Do it in as clean (not dusty) environment as possible so dust does not drift down inside the scanner. Never touch the lamp or move the scan mechanism. Again, don't do it unless it's showing up on scan results. Sadly, nobody "fixes" scanners, they are disposable, like coffee pots, even if they cost 300.00.

How to Clean Scanner Glass

Steps how to clean scanner glass

1. Unplug the power cord.
2. Clean the outer case with a cloth dampened with a mild detergent and water.
3. If the document table glass gets dirty, clean it with a soft dry cloth. If the glass is stained with grease or some other hard-to-remove material, use a small amount of glass cleaner and a soft cloth to remove it. Wipe off all remaining liquid.
4. Ensure that there is no dust on the glass of the document table. Dust can cause white spots in your scanned images.

*** CAUTION: Do not press on the document table glass too hard.

5. Be careful not to scratch or damage the document table glass, and do not use a hard or abrasive brush to clean it. A damaged glass surface can decrease the scanning quality.
6. Never use alcohol, paint thinner or corrosive solvent to clean the scanner. These chemicals can damage the scanner components as well as the case.
7. Be careful not to spill liquid into the scanner mechanism or electronic components. This could permanently damage the mechanism and circuitry.
8. Do not spray lubricants inside the scanner.
9. Never open the scanner case.

***NOTE: Wipe the inside of the document cover and the scanner's document table before scanning transparencies.

Use of Scanner

On this model there is a SCAN in black and white or color buttons but you need to have something on the glass to scan. Once it scans it prints!!!

Now lexmark software if installed comes with a program to scan with. you need to check under your prgrams folder under lexmark for the scanning software that was installed with the print driver.

If you open the lid and you do not see the white light chances are your scanner has and needs a bulb inside and at the point to install one of these you might want to concider a new printer.

Please be considerate and leave your feedback and comments and ratings before you leave, Thanks

HP Scanjet G4050 - Can I clean under the glass?

Yes, but it is not a simple process.
Typically these are sealed and rarely need the bottom part of the glass cleaned. However seems I always get that rare few. :)

You must remove the mounting fasteners. Be careful and make note which positions the fasteners were removed. Each model has different locations. You may even have to pull up a label to reach a few of these. Hidden and tucked away not for the novice.
Try to remove ONLY the ones needed holding the glass in place.

Once you have the glass removed, use canned air or something to blow out the case. Clean glass and reverse the process.
Never EVER spray anything wet inside the case.

Be warned, it is very easy to S-t-r-i-p out a mounting point as you are working with plastic parts. Labels may not lay perfectly flat once you have pulled them up to remove a fastener. Little glue helps here for stubborn spots. Use light weight glues like Elmers.
You do not want the glue that holds like steel. You may have to dive in there again in the future. :)

Good luck!

I have an HP Office Jet v40. No problems when I

Sannaer glass is dirty: Cleaning the scanner glass and white reference strip Follow the steps below to clean the scanner glass and reference strip: Remove any loose paper debris that may be present.
  1. Carefully clean the white reference strip on the underside of the scanner cover (or top cover) with a clean, lint-free cloth, moistened lightly with isopropyl alcohol. Clean only the white plastic part on the scanner cover.
  2. For those models that have a scanner glass, clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth, moistened lightly with glass cleaner. The HP Officejet K series and HP fax 1220 have a scanner opening instead of a scanner glass. Make sure that no debris is in the scanner opening. Use canned air to gently blow dust and debris from the scanner slot.
  3. Replace all removed components and close the unit.
  4. Plug the power cord back in and turn the unit back on.
  5. Make a copy to verify the lines are not present. If lines are still present and there is nothing visible on either the scanner glass or the reference strip, the unit will require service.

Whirlpool under counter oven, inside glass door broke.

To get to the glass on the inside of the door you need to do the steps listed.
1. Open door 4" and pull straight up at that angle
2. Lay door on flat surface with the handle down to surface.
3. Remove all screws that you see .
4. The inner housing should be removable now.
Then you should see the glass. Reverse the steps to put back together.

Good Luck with the fix.

Cleaning scanner glass

This solution is for the HP 3310 all-in-one.
How to clean under the glass.
1. Find the small wire that runs from the lid to a jack on the back and disconnect it, un-clip the wire from the holders and let it hang free.
2. Lift the lid and pull it straight up about 3/4 of an inch, you will see two indents in the hinge, push these one at a time to release the lid. Remove it completely.
3. 3 screws are located under the hinge, remove them as well as the two in the front.
4. In the back, gently pull on the silver end pieces to release the top from the unit.
5. You can now turn it over to clean the glass.
6. to reinstall reverse the steps and remember to plug the jack back in.
That's it, easy when you know how. Pay HP service nothing!
