Oven won't turn off!

I turned the top oven on 350 preheat and walked away. I returned to find the upper broiler on high, the display flashing F2 and beeping. I could not turn the oven off or change the setting. I switched off the breaker. When I switched the breaker back on, the oven returned to high broiler, F2 and beeping. Again, I could not turn off the oven, so I switched off the breaker once more. Several hours later I switched the breaker on, and now the oven works fine. It's been three days, and the oven seems fine. However, I am a foster parent with eight children in the home. Am I going to awaken some night to a house on fire? Thanks, [email protected].

I have a double wall electric oven model CWE5800. I turned on the oven and it was working fine for about 20 minutes. All of a sudden the oven started beeping and was flashing an error code F2. I turned off the circuit breaker and turned it back on a few times but kept getting the error message. I have had the circuit off for the last 3 days while I try to find a repair person, but I would like to find out more about this F2 error code. If you have had a similar experience please let me know. [email protected]

Our Maytag range is a Gemini Gas Range with double ovens. It worked fine for the first three years. Today, I hit one of the buttons and then could not off the oven. After re-setting the breaker, it works fine.

Our Gemini electric smoothtop double oven does not turn off\! The upper oven will not turn off everytime and we have to switch the breaker off to get it to reset. When the ovens are on and cooking the outside of the stove gets too hot to touch. The repair man came and replaced the seals in the lower door and said that was normal for the rubber seal to fall out?

It probably needed to reset computer/electroics
but i would call customer service for the brand it is a dangerous thing to play with.
make sure there were no recalls also.

i would first check the lower units bake element , usually a visually inspection is enough to determine if its good or nor, usually a burn mark can be seen on the element itself, and if you can even see the element the bottom f the oven cavity will lift off for better inspection

SOURCE: My oven will not preheat and the broiler does not

The problem is usually the igniter not reaching the correct amp draw .When the igniter does not reach the correct amp draw it may allow the gas valve to partially open or not open at all. The igniters are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/gasoventroubleshootvideo.html this will walk you thru the correct procedure for performing this test. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models are available. All parts come with installation instructions.

I have F2 error on Ge profile electric oven and sometimes after a preheat it shuts off

Generally speaking, F2 fault code indicates the oven exceeded 590 degrees with the door unlocked. This could be caused by a stuck relay on the oven control board or it could be caused by high resistance in the oven temperature sensor probe.

If the element will shut off then the likely failure is the oven temperature sensor probe. The sensor is located inside the oven cavity. It will be protruding from the rear panel in the upper left or upper right corner. The sensor can be removed and replaced from inside the oven cavity

My Kenmore Model 91195371790 oven Preheat light comes on as soon as you turn oven on and then flashes f2

Over-temp condition due to either oven temperature sensor or ERC (electronic range control).
Testing should be done by a qualified tech to prevent risks to user.

Should my broiler turn on when I am preheating my oven this does not seem right to me and my oven caught on fire last night

Hi,
Yes the broiler will often turn on to help preheat the oven.
If it caught fire, it is not because of that, but because you have too much run over food in the oven. That is what caught fire. You need to clean it an NOT with the self clean!!

F2 Oven overheats

jaz3133, it's probably the temp sensor that has gone bad. You should be able to get it from the front. It's the probe that comes out from the back wall of the oven. You can have someone ohm it out. Should read approx 1100 ohms at room temp. Part number for the temp sensor is WB20K5040. Make sure power is off befor removing the sensor. Catriver..post back.
