Whirlpool conquest sibe by side GS6SHAXKQ01 freezer has defrosted and food is thawed

The problem is with the "thermostat" right next to the defrost timer. When you tap on the control, you are actually tweaking the thermostat and not the defrost timer. Here is the thermostat to order.
Here is a diagram of the control box. The thermostat is number 13 and the defrost time is number 4.

Switch off the freezer and clean it properly by emptying th freeze. And then switch on the freezer

If it has ice buildup on the back wall inside the freezer, it appears to have a defrost problem. Unplug it, put your food in another unit (or ice chests), open the freezer door and let it thaw out overnight for at least 12 hours or more, or until all the ice has melted from *behind* the back wall. Then close the doors and run it for 4 hours and check to see if the fresh food side is cold. If it is, call a repairman to fix the defrost problem. That could be a burned out heater, terminator, or defrost timer depending on your exact model.

Check the inside, back lower wall inside the freezer. If there is ice built up on it, you have a defrost problem. if so the heater is most likely bad and will need to be replaced. You can take a blow dryer and defrost the ice, removing the panel so you can defrost behind it also. Once you have, you can see the heater and at that time you can get to it to check it and see if it's bad. You can put the panel back on and turn the fridge back on and it will work right for 3 to 4 days. This will give you time to either repair it or have it repaired without loosing any food. Good luck

Your defrost system is probably out. It's probably frozen up. Check your heater first, then the t-stat and timer. You will want to let the unit thaw out completely for a full day before replacing these parts. We have parts that we can ship to you. Hope this helps! Ella :>)

the first one sounds like it is slowly leaking freon.

•  the second Sounds like a defrost problem. Check to see if there is any frost buildup in the back wall of the freezer. If so, it is not defrosting as it should.
  
• possible causes:

1. bad defrost timer/control board
2. bad defrost heater (in freezer)
3. bad thermo switch in freezer

If you don’t know what these are then unplug the machine and let the ice melt in the freezer overnight with the door open. Then try it the next day, if is cooling fine then you need to have a service person replace one of the above items. If it still has a problem then it might be the compressor and you should probably replace the machine.

Don't let them tell you that the problem is related to "sulfur" in your water. It's a scam so that they don't have to repair the problem. The actual problem is that they don't use quality parts to build these units anylonger.
