Your camera uses a different filing system than the other camera...they are not interchangeable.

Delete pictures from memory card

http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/pdf/manuals/coolpix/S550_en.pdf
The link above will take you to your camera's manual. You did not say if you want to delete a few pictures or all of the pictures from your memory card. If you want to erase all of your pictures, you must reformat your memory by following the instructions on page 19. If you want to remove selected pictures, look on page 102 for instructions.

Whenever I take a picture with my Nikon Coolpix S550 camera the picture has white horizontal lines in it.

I´ve got the same problem and think, that it`s the ccd unit.

Someone is offering the lens with ccd unit on ebay.

Best regards

When connected to my macbook, my Nikon Coolpix S55...

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

I bought the Nikon Coolpix about two years ago. Suddenly all the pictures taken are overexposed. What do I do?

Two things to check...ISO (should be auto ISO or a setting between 100-400) and Exposure Compensation (should be set to "0")

Pictures they are distorted

The problem sounds like a faulty sensor. Still under warranty? Take it back.

How do I import pictures from my Nikon Coolpix s550 digital camera to a PC laptop?

You can either connect the camera to the computer using the supplied USB cable, or remove the SD card from the camera and insert it into a card reader attached to the computer. The card reader is the preferred scheme, as it does not drain the camera's battery.

How to protect pictures so they do not get deleted

Best way is to only delete them 1 by one. Another is to transfer files (pictures) to your computer delete the ones you don't want, format your card and then put the ones you want to keep on your camera back. You can't delete just a few pictures. I carry 3 memory cards. one just has the pictures I want to show people. I load that card from my computer. The other 2 are like great big rolls of film that let me take lots and lots of pictures without the worry of running out of film. I transfer the pictures I want to show people on my camera to the third one and keep the other 2 erased. Most of my pictures are only on my computer and backed up on DVD's.

Camera does not show taken ( saved) pictures

problem is in memory card...i think. try with cleaning memory card contacts. use pure alcohol and small piece of cotton to clean dust or other dirt. if this not help, try some card reader to transfer images from camera to PC. try also with some other camera. it's possible memory card is damaged and you can't do nothing. try reinstall nikon software on your PC.
