If the item is not purchased directly from ebay then it is not a legit transaction.. to be able to be eligible for the VPP or the vehicle protection program, it is necessary to purchase the item on ebay. if the item is listed outside ebay and the seller is telling you that it is an ebay item with vehicle protection and the money will go to an ebay agent then dont continue the transaction since it is clearly a SCAM. do not share any information to this seller and report it to ebay by forwaring all emails to [email protected]

do not continue the transaction if the item is not listed on ebay, you need to ask the seller for the 12 digit ebay number so that you can purchase the item on ebay and not on another website or not directly from the seller.

hope this helps... please rate! thanks!

by the way, if the seller tells you that the item is in an ebay warehouse, there is no such thing as ebay warehouse... thanks!

I'm buying a car from Florida and I live in Portland. The seller has set me up with EBay buyer protection. Is this a legit way to do business?

eBay's Vehicle Purchase Protection covers only certain vehicle transactions that are completed ON eBay.com. If a Craigslist or non-eBay seller 'promises' you the eBay protection plan, this is ***** and you should walk away. ... Vehicles advertised well below what it is worth may be tempting, but should be a red flag.

DOES EBAY HANDLE FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS FOR CRAIGS LIST

NO! Paypal works with eBay and eBay has a financial interest in Craigslist, but eBay does not handle financial transactions for Craigslist. I smell a SCAM! caveat emptor! just sayin.

First time with ebay the seller ask to transfer cash through western union to an ebay vehicle protection agent .. purchase invoice # 5848256697 case id 54G4B144Z4W44 can you tell me...

Hi there!
Do not continue with the transaction and don't send the payment. it can be a scam since ebay don't have agents to get payments from buyers. ebay is only a platform for you to use to buy and sell items and they don't care about the payments and they don't have ebay agents assigned to get the payments. send/forward the emails to [email protected] all the emails you got from this seller. Just checked the item number 110039713412 and it's not on ebay motors and it means that its not a legit ebay item.

hope this helps. Have a great day!

Buying item from canada but will have ebay as a third party

If you're going to buy an item from Canada, first, the item must be listed in eBay to make the transaction legitimate. Only pay for the item using PayPal, Moneybookers, Propay, Paymate or credit card through the seller's marchant credit card account. If the seller is asking you to pay for it using wire transfer or money order, better cancel the transaction because it is a possible scam. If you pay using those 2 payment methods, you'll not be covered by eBay's Buyer Protection Program. I hope that this will help you with your transaction. Also, all legitimate emails from eBay should be received both in your My Messages and registered email address. If you don't have a copy of it in your My Messages, better forward it to [email protected]

Hello - quick question to make sure a transaction is legal... 1) saw posting for vehicle on Autotrader 2) contacted seller via email 3) seller said they were out out of country and that vehicle was at an...

Get away frokm this " deal " as fast as possible. This is a classic ripoff. There is no such thing as an Ebay center. Yes, you woukld pay via PayPal but the term " PayPal Center " is false. Exactly how is the seller going to sign the title to the bike over to you if they are out of the country? If the bike really exists, which it doesn't, it is not yours until that title is signed. They have your money, they have the title; " Officer, this guy stole my motorcycle, I want it back ". Ebay NEVER acts as a middleman in ANY transaction. " Money back guarantee " yes, and the tooth fairy is real. I would notify Auto Trader of the scam. AGAIN, THIS IS A SCAM ! ! !

Do not continue the transaction and do not pay for this item. VPP only works if you purchase an item on eBay motors site. ask the seller for the eBay 12 digit item number so that you can check if this item is a legite listed item on eBay. Do not pay if you do not bid or won the item on eBay site. This is a spoof email. Please forward the messages you got from this seller to [email protected] so that eBay can investigate this for you

More secure way of buynig a car

Red Flags, Dude, all over the place. I wouldn't deal with this seller no matter what assurances they gave. Just find another car, there are thousands out there just like the one you want through reputable dealers. Let this go before you get taken to the bank. Don't ever give anybody your ebay information, never.

Dont know how it works

The only manner that is secure and protects you the buyers is to purchase the car through the eBay motors auction listing. You will have the option of paying via Paypal, Check, Money Order, etc.

The eBay Motors Vehicle Purchase Protection (VPP) program provides protection of up to $50,000 against certain losses associated with some types of fraud. You are automatically enrolled in the program at no charge when you complete the purchase of an eligible vehicle on the eBay Motors site (motors.ebay.com).

Participation in the VPP program is subject to the following eligibility requirements:

You have successfully completed the purchase of a vehicle* priced at more than $100 from one of the following categories on the eBay Site:
    • Car and Truck
    • Motorcycle
    • Go Kart, Scooter, and Moped
    • ATV
    • Personal Water Craft

    Note:
    * You will be deemed to have successfully completed the purchase if you receive confirmation in your "My eBay" that you have successfully won, or purchased, an item through an auction, Buy It Now, or Best Offer.

Your eBay account, and the account of the seller, had an eBay Site feedback rating of zero or above as of the listing's end date and your account is in good standing (i.e. not suspended) at the time the reimbursement request is filed.
  1. You have not filed a VPP reimbursement request in the last 6 months.

You, the seller, the vehicle, and the financial institutions on which payment was drawn, and to which payment was made, must have been located in one of the fifty United States or Canada on the listing's end date.
  2. You obtain the VPP Administrator's prior written consent before altering, repairing, selling, or releasing possession of, the vehicle before a determination is made on your Reimbursement Request.

You are able to provide the VPP Administrator with documentation to substantiate all purchase payments, and/or estimates for repair, related to your reimbursement request within 14 days of filing your reimbursement request.
  3. You comply with the filing deadline and requests from the VPP Administrator (regardless of any shipping delays you experience).
