Fuji FinePix S9000 battery change clears date/time.

Everytime I change the AA batteries in my Fuji FinePix S9000, I must reset the time and date, even if the camera was without batteries for only 15 seconds. Is there an internal battery/capacitor that needs to be changed?

Hi

I started having a similar problem with my Fuji FinePix F10 after about 3 1/2 years of problem-free use. Another poster had some really helpful advice which I thought I'd pass on. It seems there is an internal battery or capacitor which basically fails after a while, meaning date/time settings etc are lost when the battery is removed. (Some people claim this is a motherboard/chip problem instead - seems to be contentious!) So the camera is faulty, but the problem can be worked around.

The advice I found, which worked for my camera, was this:

- Turn off camera and leave off for approx 15 seconds before opening battery door.
- Change battery quickly (within a few seconds).
- Close battery door and leave camera off for approx 15 secs before turning back on.

This retained all settings when I tested it multiple times. I imagine it might not work if changing over a totally dead battery though.

Hope it helps!

It has a 6-hour capacitor to hold the settings.
It is not user replaceable. See page 16 of your manual.
Before removing the batteries, make sure the camera is OFF or the cap will discharge.
It may be as bad a hassle, but if the ac adapter is connected while you change the batteries, the settings will keep.

Why do I lose date/time on Fuji FinePix S6500 digital camera when I change batteries

You lose the date/time because the camera has no power to it to keep the settings. Basically don't leave the batteries out if you want it to keep the date/time. On the other hand it will just sit and run the batteries down just sitting there off. It is a bit annoying but that's why. Most cameras store an internal charge so they can keep the date/time but it is not supposed to last very long, it was designed so you could swap out dead batteries without having to reset the time/date every time. If it is happening on simple battery changes it means something may be wrong with the camera.

My finepix s9000 will not turn on, it clicks a few times and then there is no power on screens or other features

remove the batteries, let it sit for a week or so, then load fresh batteries and it will turn on. Apparantly the auto shut down feature prevent it from turn on until the internal memory is erased. This is a stupid problem that Fuji should fix

Every time I replace the 4 AA batteries all camera

There is an internal battery back up for storing settings. It's soldered to the main board and I don't think it's a rechargeable battery judging by the amount of people who have owned these cameras who have encountered the same problem.
It's a watch type battery and these things do go flat after a few years and unless you know the type and voltage only fuji service centres can replace.
It won't affect the camera's performance it's just a pain having to set up each time you change the batteries.

Loss of date and time on battery change

This is not a solution, however I have the very same problem, and as previously described, the problem have started recently after about two years. What make me think that there is an additional internal battery which died, similar to a PC battery that keeps the date and some other stuff

Camera turns on for 2 seconds or wont turn on at all.

There is no hardware reset on this model. We have many situation on different make digital cameras that uses AA batteries that would not turn on with some other AA batteries due to Amp requirement on the batteries. Which means that some circuit design would work only with rechargable batteries because they have more power due to higher Amp power. So I would try rechargable batteries for the last resort. -James
