it sounds like it is working correctly to stop the beep go into menu and turn off beep

2 problems I can think of:
no battery
no place on the memory card

sorry to hear you are having this issue. well the problem is your lens. the len motors have locked up and are stuck the lens needs replacement. repair run any where from 75.00 and up in most cases.i repair these all of the time.let me know if i can help out any further.

Can you trip the flash by pressing the button or camera shutter or by shorting center pin to outside contact?

The beeps are probably an alarm telling you that there is a setting fault.

Read the instruction book for both the flash and camera to properly set things up.
