You need the sheet that came with the remote. If the manufacturer's codes do not work with your ??, then you need a more modern remote. The codes must ALREADY be in the remote to be used. The code is part of the REMOTE. http://www.tvcodes.com/ may have the code for you.
Check out http://www.remotecentral.com and look for your remote and your TV, the code is for the TV but is geared to work with your particular remote, so look under Jenson Remotes and then find the code for your particular TV or VCR or CD player or whatever you want to program.
