I have removed battery from phone and then replaced it.This worked when dial tone went previously. I removed adaptor from socket and replaced it after 20 seconds. Battery seems O.K as phone lights up and makes connection noise when put on base. No Dial Tone.. I called TWC and they told me to get access to a cell phone because they will not send anyone out to check the problem and I needed to be home to have them walk me thru some modem steps. I have no access to a cell phone.
I know there is a link on line to see the connections and other info but forgot the link. Can anyone help me on that?

My unit is brand new. Trying other phones in the jack show that there is no problem with jack. Trying other "cords" in the problem phone did not fix it. I have read and reread the instructions. What am I doing wrong? Phone lights up and beeps as if battery and charging are ok.My unit is brand new. Trying other phones in the jack show that there is no problem with jack. Have you tried a known good phone in the jack, if that doesn't work take the phone to the demarc box provided by your phone company and open the door on the box. Under this door locate the mini jack and disconnect it, then plug your known good phone into that jack. If you get no dial tone at this point, then it isn't being provided by the local phone company so it's their trouble. Thank you. Jerry

try changing phone to tone dialing . one phone line has been setup for Decadic dialing and the other line may be setup for tone dialing.
If tone dialing is working on one line but not the other then get phone company to change the dialing type on the phone line.
Dual tone multi frequency is the technical name for tone dialing and is more efficient than decadic dialing or pulse dialing.
Is there a dial tone? And have you tried another phone? If there is a dial tone make sure the phone is set for tone dialing. There will either be a switch on the side of phone for pulse or tone, set for tone. or go into the menu and look for it there...
To set Unconditional Call ForwardON
Dial "*72" for a dial tone. Dial the forwarding number followed by "#". Wait for dial
tone. LCD will display "Call FWD Activated"
To Cancel Unconditional Call Forward: dial "*73" and get the dial tone, then hang up.
LCD will display "Call FWD Activated
but, since you have tried those two, it could be that there might still be a different type of call forward option that is still ON, on your phone like Busy Call Forward and Delayed Call Forward
1. To Cancel Busy Call Forward: dial "*91". Wait for dial tone. Hang up.
2.To Cancel Delayed Call Forward: Dial "*93" for a dial tone, then hang up.
plug out the fax... plug in a phone... if still no dialtone... replace phone cable... still no dial tone... call the phone company...
plug out the fax... plug in phone... dial tone heard... bad fax... try to reset fax machine... per instructions... still no dial tone... call repair guy...
This problem can
be due to the software not handling a certain dial tone rather than a
specific hardware fault. Around the world there is a variance in the
signal quality of the dial tone which causes a report of no dial tone
detection. Disable the dial tone detection to prevent the system from
trying to detect a dial tone.
Disabling dial tone detection for modems: Windows XP
Click Start
Select Control Panel
Click Switch to Classic View to change the control panel view
Click Phone and Modem Options
Select the Modem Tab
Select the installed modem (Example: Lucent Technologies Soft Modem AMR)
Click the Properties button
Select the Modem tab in the Properties window
Click Wait for dial tone before dialing to remove the check from the checkbox
Select the Advanced tab
Add X3 to the Extra initialization commands field in the Extra Settings box
Click OK twice
Select Switch to Category View to change back the control panel view
Close Control Panel
if this does not work trying re-installing modem drivers.
All versions of Windows are affected by this error.
No dial tone: There are many possible causes of a No Dial Tone Error.
First,
try testing the modem's ability to detect dial tone and to dial by
using HyperTerminal with the direct to COM port connect method - see
Using HyperTerminal. If you give your modem an AT&FX1 command, and
then a dial command, dial-tone detection will be disabled; if you still
do not get dial tone, the modem may not be installed correctly
(especially if it is a PCI or soft-modem); or the cable from the modem
to the phone-line jack may be bad or installed in the wrong connector
on the modem - try another line cord, and make sure you are plugged in
to the LINE - not phone - jack on the modem. Plug a regular phone into
the phone jack on the modem and make sure it has dial tone. The modem
may also be defective. Many new modems come with an electronic circuit
instead of the traditional electro-mechanical relay used to take the
modem off-hook. Some of these designs are proving less reliable; often,
they will be 'stuck' in the off-hook position, so unplugging, the
plugging in the phone cord may give dial-tone. If this is the case, the
modem needs repair or replacement.
If the modem will blind
dial (x1), but not detect dial-tone otherwise, the problem is likely to
be in the proper selection of the Country in
Windows->ControlPanel->Telephony or in improper installation of
the modem or lack of support for your country in the driver you are
using. Check to see if there are updated drivers for your modem.
If
the modem dials properly with detection (x3) in HyperTerminal, but does
not detect dial tone when using DUNs, the problem may be DUNs (check
for upgrade or re-install) or the proper setup and modem selection for
the DUNs connectoid.
For Embarq telephone service customers,
this error can indicate that you have a message waiting in your
voicemail. Embarq changes the dial-tone sound to a "fast" busy signal
when a new message is present in your voicemail box. This "fast" busy
signal can confuse the modem into thinking there is no-dial tone
present on the line.
The problem is possibly the keypad on the phone. Try another phone , preferrably a standard corded phone. If you still cannot break the dial tone, then the problem is with the telephone line (phone company)
Lisa,
If the 900MHZ phone is Model 26928M programming for rotary dial usually goes like below, can't hurt to try on any model.
TONE/PULSE DIALING
This adjustment allows you to select tone (touch-tone) or pulse (rotary) mode dialing. The phone is pre-set for
touch-tone use. To set to tone or pulse dialing:
1. Press and hold the program button for two seconds. You will hear a beep.
2. Press the *tone button to select Tone Dialing or press #pause to select Pulse Dialing.
3. Press the program button again. You will hear a confirmation tone.
Make sure your phone is in Tone and not Pulse dialing. To change it for your phone, just look in your manual. If you don't have one, I have included a link for you to d/l it.
