change the inverter if it does not work ,you will have to change the backlight bulbs or you change the screen

The Samsung 204B monitor have a know issue with failing power supplies that cause the exact problem you are having. At first they are a little slow to display a picture and the more you keep using it the longer it takes for the display to come on. The repair is simple if you can solder. Replace the screen with a known working one. If it shows display then it is the screen which is broken, if not, then it could be the port on which it is connected.

this is very frecuent in all monitors or tv's lcd .... turn on 3 seconds and off the capacitors need to be replaced y sugest a technician

This sounds like a power supply problem, how old is the monitor? If it is not new in the last year and is used regularly it sonds like a faulty capacitor in the power supply. If you are aware of the precautions necessary when handling capacitors and a moderatly competent solderer then you can replace then yourself - a complete set of capacitors usually costs around £3 or $5

I too have a dual monitor Samsung SyncMaster 204 setup. My monitors started flickering, then a week later had turn on problems like your describe. I found a fix on this fixya website and followed the fairly techie suggestion. It worked. I wrote up a .pdf set of instructions so others might also benefit. Hope this helps. Doug

I had a similar problem on a different monitor and fixed the green sparkles by selecting a lower refresh rate.

Try to replace C110 and C111 in the power supply circuit. These are 820uF caps and are in parallel. I had slow start and a flicker on this same monitor. Replacing the caps fixed it. Good luck, Ryan
